Is it wrong to register?

Is it wrong to register?

We have finally made up our minds and are having a small destination wedding to VT (only parents and sibs)
I am not expecting a bridal shower.
I know his family doesn't have much money and might rather giving a gift instead of $$. Also I know that my mother has this thing where for the past several christmas' she gets my sister and sil the remaining place settings off of their registries since it can be hard to think of things that we might need.

We have been living together for over 4 years and pretty much have everything that we need except formal china and good bedroom linens.
Is it wrong to register for these things?

I say register. The worst that can happen is you don't get it.

No, go ahead and register for them, since you have everything else, why not register for some nice dishes and a few good sheet sets? You need those things and it will probably make it easier for your families, knowing exactly what you want, rather than guessing or giving you money (which a lot of people don't like because they feel its very impersonal)

I agree. There's no harm in registering. Maybe some people who aren't invited to the wedding will get you gifts. I received a few gifts (taken off my registry) from my dad's clients who weren't invited to the wedding. We also received a lot of engagement gifts from people.

Of course it's not wrong to register! I've been living with my FI for 10 years and we registered for new things to replace the old. Not everyone likes to give money either.

I didn't want to sound gready but this was exactly why I was thinking about doing it.

People love to give gifts. You will be surprised how many gifts you will receive from people you least expect.

That you all so much.

Now I get to drag him to the mall this weekend and maybe there can be a brand new pair of boots in it for me

You are a bride, it is never wrong to register. Even if it were your 6th wedding or more it would still be ok. People want to celebrate your and DF's happiness.

I say register as well. If anyone gives you a hassle just tell them you get a discount on 'completion'.

Definately register. This way those that want to buy you a gift know where to go.
