if my FMIL can pay for her own 'parent' album? My parents are paying for the ceremony, reception, and photographer. Any thoughts on this?

It is kind of rude. But is the album already incorprated in your photo package already. I would just get the additional album and pickup the cost. Its a gift for them.

Re: Is my mom rude for asking...
Parents albums arent always included in the photo package price, mine arent so me and FH are going to be picking them out and paying for them....they'll be a gift to our parents
I think if you have to end up paying for FMILs album then you should pay for your parents album as well and consider it a wedding gift for both families.
Its definitely awkward to have to ask FMIL to pay for her album but if you really don't want to pay for it I guess you should just be honest with her.
Good Luck

yes i think it would be a little rude. are the FILs contributing at all to the wedding? is this one of those things where your parents feel they are contributing 'enough' and shouldn't have to pay anymore for the ILs' albums? if that is the case---choose your battle here and just pay for the parent album for them yourself.....you don't want bad blood started immediately like that between the families. save yourself the headache!

I think it is best if you pay for both the parents album as a gift. You can decide if you want to lie to your mom and give her the money for both albums and tell her it is from FMIL or just pay the photographer directly for it. If it is included, find out what the worth is for it or what he thinks would be fair contribution. I don't think your mom should pay for their albums.

Re: Is my mom rude for asking...
My daughter got married in Nov. We paid for just about everything for the wedding, including the photographer. The package included 2 parent albums, with 24 photos. I upgraded mine (of course I wanted more than 24 photos) My son in laws mom chose 35 additional pictures. She is paying for the 'extras' which includes upgrading the album etc. Now that we gave her the price she owes..........she says it's too much! So she's meeting with the photographer to see how she can narrow down photos or cut corners somehow.

Yes, it is kinda rude. If your package doesn't include the parent albums, I'd pay for it instead of asking your FMIL to.

My parents paid for their own album. DH and I aren't planning to foot the bill for my IL's album. If they want one, they can purchase it themselves.

i don't think its rude! why would your parents pay for THEIR album??
if its a package deal and your parents are paying for the photography package, i wouldn't ask your ILs to pay for part of it. BUT if its something additional, not included in the package, i don't see why they can't take care of that on their own!

I don't think it is rude at all. Why should your mother pay for your FMIL's album? It would be nice if you guys paid for it, but definitely not your mother.

The only thing FH & I are paying for ourselves is the photographer. It comes with two parent albums but since his parents are divorced I need three. So I am making his mom one once I get the pics. You can always do something like that.

i dont think its rude - depending on how you go about it - we told our parents that the parent albums were $600 each and that there was NO WAY we could afford to get them (for us there is no package) i told them that either they could purchase the album for $600 or i could make them each an album on Picabo - both sets of parents said $600 was crazy, they didnt want us to spend the $ and neither did they and that a custom made album made by me after the wedding would be perfect - so thats what we are doing!

Re: Is my mom rude for asking...
Im not even asking the FIL's about parent albums. I'm making them one on kodak, it'll be much cheaper and they'll like it just the same.

I don't think it's rude at all. Why should they have to pay for the in-laws pictures? I've told my daughter that I'm happy if she can make up copies of her photos and I'll put them in my own album.

No way! If FML is not contributing then I would just tell her 'My parents are paying for enough I am not comfortable asking them to pay for an additional book.' They aren't cheap!!! I am with the parents on this one.
