Is the Economy Going to Take a Turn for the Worse Now?
Everything seems like a total nightmare right now with what's going on in the country. I was just wondering, what do you think will happen to the economy? Is this a stupid question? With the price of gas going high and seeing that some gas stations were out of service because they ran out of gas, do you think this will cause other problems? I don't know if this is just a short-term problem, or if it'll cause problems in other aspects of the economy? What do you think?

I think everything will be fine to be honest. I don't think the country seems like a nightmare. We are just going through a tough time right now. We will all be fine

No, the economy will probably not take a turn for the worst. The price of gas and unleaded continue to move downward and many countries, besides ours, have committed to tapping into their strategic oil reserves. This, in and of itself, will help to increase supply whereby lowering the demand. This should help to stabilize oil/gas prices as well as helping them drop.
Another economic boost is the tremendous activity that rebuilding spurs. Rebuilding the southeast is going to create tons of jobs. These workers then feed into the economy by putting their dollars back in to circulation.
What I personally think it a more dangerous situation is the amount of debt that consumers are carrying and the housing market. That is a much more likely cause of a recession then the tragedy in the south.

I think the economy is also affected by people's beliefs.
For instance, there are folks that believe we are running out of gas. They are filling up and keeping loads of gas in their houses etc for emergencies.
folks that believe the economy is not strong and don't have faith in our government will stop spending their money.
both of these scenarios will affect the economy in the worst way.
