I am finding out that more and more of our guests are not attending our wedding...probably due to the economy. We have so many out of town people. We are afraid we can't make our minimum. Do you think the RH can work with us during these hard times?

Re: Is the economy hurting anyone else responses?
In the beginning we had 150 people and barely any nos but that changed in the last 3 weeks.
Almost all of my family (not immediate) replied 'no' because they live in Croatia. This definetely hurt me a little but I understand it is a far trip.
I also noticed certain friends we expected to be definete 'yes' responses declined. Both FH and I think it may have something to do with the economy. However, we still met our minimum so we are ok.
I would talk to your hall. I think a lot of places are more flexible given the times. I think the sooner you try to drop the minimum the better you will fare with them.

Not really!! I've got lots of calls and responses way before we actually sent the invites... Along this week everyone so far has received the invites and are coming!!
is this good or bad??

I hope the RH can work with you; there is nothing you can do about the economy. I'm also worried about people not coming to the wedding due to the economy.

We had a few more 'no's' than we anticipated but nothing too odd. We fell below our minimum by 9 people so the RH did a few nice things (1) extra layer on cake, and (2) packaged up 9 extra meals for us to take home and freeze - they even tried to give us a ton of salad and dinner rolls but we didn't have room in the car for it all. Since we had a small wedding we didn't want extra food for our guests and we didn't want to add extra time to the wedding. But we were happy they acknowledged us falling short of the minimum and did something.
I don't know if the economy affected our guests, because we were really shocked when we opened the gifts -- the collective amount covered the entire cost of the RH and then some (of course, some people didn't give anything but they are averaged out with people who gave an insane amount). We had no idea it would be that much.

I have a few friends who have returned their reply cards with NOs on them. . .people I wasn't expecting to say no. I have to say that it's a bit frustrating, especially with no explanation, but now I know who's either in my corner or who seriously doesn't have the $$$ to come.

So far no but we have gotten a few NOs - our wedding is falling on a big graduation party day.
