As the wedding becomes closer, we seem to be moving apart! I am so busy with fittings, appointments, and work that we hardly ever see each other anymore when it isn't wedding-related or working on our new condo. We tried to set aside times for dates, but there is just always too much that needs to be done. It just hasn't been fun lately, and I am praying it gets better after the wedding stress is over. Any one else feeling this way?

Re: Is the wedding planning driving you apart?
I know how you feel, we both work full time and then he has grad school 2 nights a week and sometimes I work Saturdays. WEDDING stress is horrible, we already have an apartment, but I can imagine what additional stress is added with a condo!
We reconnect, by putting some time aside and sticking to it, like eating dinner together, taking walks. Even if is for an hour, at least it is quality time. It takes some effort, but we are stronger than ever! Fm me if you need to talk

I find that FH and I argue a lil more but I don't think it's driving us apart. If anything we're becoming closer because now we're getting all our stuff ready in the apartment.

He is SO not into the whole wedding thing. Every now and then he will say, well we need to invite this person, or spend the extra on an extra photog kind of thing. Oddly, he is exceptionally interested in the hors d'ouvre choices?

That's exactly what we are like with each other. We both have such a short fuse these days! Glad I am not alone in this.

It really was good until about 2 months before the wedding when we started having problems with invites, addresses, seating, etc. Before that the planning was more relaxed--now it has reached a frantic pace, especially with buying our condo at the same time.

Re: Is the wedding planning driving you apart?
I can say from our personal experience. Time wise we didnt see each other as much and when we did it wasnt relaxing and fun it was running to pay this vendor or go get this etc. For us it was about 5 weeks before the wedding that we started getting on each others nerves too. Little things like the night I didnt want to go to our new house because I was supposed to wrap our favors with our moms. (mind you this was EXACTLY 2 weeks before the wedding) or the fact that he said he couldnt wait for this wedding to be over because it was too overwhelming (yeah coming from the person who stopped being part of hte planning process 4 months before the big day!)
But anyway, it does get better! DH and I sat on our HM so content to be married and so happy to be together! Dont worry too much! BUt I would say make time for a date! And dont talk about hte wedding! Set aside one night and go out to dinner or a movie or drinks whatever! It helps you to remember WHY you are doing all this!!!

Thank you SO much. I am relieved to hear this. Had it been like this for the 2 years we were engaged, we never would have made it! With 5 weeks to go we are just not getting along at all!

Re: Is the wedding planning driving you apart?
Have you tried setting aside time once a week (even if it is for an hour) where you do not, under any circumstances, talk about the wedding? (or the condo) FH and I try to take a walk through the park every Sunday afternoon and talk about anythng but.
It really helps get in touch with the real reasons you are together...

It's not driving us apart, but it is a little lonely for me. We booked the big things together, hall, flowers, etc. But the rest of the stuff will fall to me and Rosalie, since he will be in school and wont be able to make it to appointments.

Simply, yes, or at least it feels that way. He has opions about my friends now and his sister is overly involved, its hurting my feelings. I hope that we calm down and can really talk otherwise I may be selling the dress. The stress is so bad right now I'm getting sick and I break into hives daily. No joke scary.

Re: Is the wedding planning driving you apart?
We have not been getting along well AT ALL!!! I swear sometimes I get so stressed I just want to call of the wedding and just go about our lives together without getting married. I guess for me, I'm just getting resentful at this point. Some girls have very supportive, involved FHs, but I am not one of those girls. I love my FH dearly, but he hasn't done sh!t for the wedding. I've done all the research, all the running around, all the booking vendors, etc... Now that it's getting down to crunch time, he either needs to help me or deal with my fury! We were supposed to go meet with the Priest Saturday, but FH got invited to the Yankee/Red Sox game, so I'm going by myself and I'm Jewish! I told him that since he's going to the game, he has to call and confirm all of our vendors and find out what we owe them and when it's due by. It's the one thing I've asked him to do so he better get it done.
