Is there a such thing as being too romantic????

Sex and the City inspired this post.

Dh said to me after the epsiode- see women do not like romantic guys.

I said that is not entirely true.

I will speak for my self and say while I love romance and having romantic things done for me- i.e massages, flowers, romantic dinners, love letters, I will admit I would not like for any of these things to be over the top. That is where I think some guys make their mistake.

I do not like overly sappy guys. That would annoy me to no end.

I like suprises, so if my guys sent me flowers every Tuesday at 1130am, I would probably grow tired of it, because it is not new or exciting.

Don't know if I am making much sense, but this is MY story.

I concur...while I do LOVE the surprise flowers delivered to me at work for no apparent reason other than 'I Love You'...I think having Oscar De La Renta making a dress for me is way over the top.
The romantic dinners, the nights on the town are good for special occasions....I'm happy with a home cooked meal and snuggling with the puppy.

IMO, I think the whole food poisoning part said it all.....'Surviving food poisoning together mkaes for lasting love....' and I know FH would be laying on the bathroom floor with me if that was us!!

You wouldn't hear me complaining about that one!!! The dress was GORGEOUS and at least shows he was listening and paid attention to her....
I thought it was a sweet and romantic gesture and I would have LOVED IT!

Now being overly sappy is a whole other thing...I don't this he was 'sappy' at all and I have to agree with NRVBRD & StayandJohn that someone like that would annoy the cRaP out of me!

i think that true romance is paying attention to what your partner loves and values....and doing THOSE special things for them..no matter how big or small.

for example, romantic, to me, is taking me to the airport to see planes because i love them, not necessarily an expensive dinner.
