Is there a tactful way to...

...ask a friend to pick a date a few weeks from your wedding?

One of my friends just got engaged this past weekend. She lives in St. Louis and I know that she's going to invite pretty much all of the our same friends from college. She wants to get married in Summer of 2007 and I'm just worried that our friends will have to choose which wedding to go to. I'm so happy for her, but I wish there was some way that I could persuade her to have it in a month other than June 2007.

I guess you could call this my first bridezilla moment. I'm sure that I'm worrying over nothing too!!

Def. not bridezilla!! You could just ask her when she's planning on having it, and remind her that yours is in June...hopefully she will put two and two together!

You could word it in such a way that you are soo excited about hers....how you hope to be able to go. Then when you ask her when she is thinking of having it, you could always say that if it is too close to yours (like at the beginning of June) you would be dissapointed that you might not to be able to make it with all the things you have to do in the final weeks.

I hear you loud and clear. FH cousin who lives in MD is getting married 2 weeks before us knowing our date MONTHS before she was even engaged!!! And to top it off all of my FH family on that side of the family lives out of state so they are going to have to travel yet again! I know how you feel.
My only suggestion (which i got from the ladies on this site) is to send out ur save the dates before her!
Good luck!

If she is a true friend and she is aware of your date she will not pick a date close to yours.

Look I think you should tell her how you feel so there aren't any hard feelings

I actually hope she is already thinking about avoiding July. My FH's good friend got engaged before us and they set their date for 7/707. So when we were trying to pick a date, we avoided July altogether. I never really wanted a summer wedding, but with me in school to be a teacher is seemed logical, but when I looked at the calendar and all of the other events going on (June has my sister's wedding anniversary and August being my birthday month, hee hee) I just knew I wanted to have a time that was all our's. If I was her I wouldn't want to make it near your wedding- let's hope she feels the same way.
