There's a Watermill thread on the 06 board but if you want to start one here I'll jump in! So who is everyone's BM there? Have any of you dealt with Samantha? We're going to be in the Bostonian for CH and then the Astor Suite for dinner... Where will you all be? Oh so many questions!! I could go on for days!!

Hehe...hi jenn!!!

I haven't met with Samantha yet...just because I've heard around that unless you book with their vendors...she's kind of a waste. Plus I briefly conversed with her at a couples seminar, and the prices she said were 'highly discounted', well just didn't seem that way!! She does seem like a nice person from my brief encounters, but I don't think she'll be much help for FH and I.

Re: Is there a Watermill thread?

btw - the prices i'm talking about are concerning things like invites and favors

Yeah I hear ya... She's a really nice lady... If it wasn't for her helping me with a bad situation with a bad vendor, I would be stuck using them. But I do agree she doesn't really have the best prices around.

For invitations, I think I'm making them myself and as for favors I'm still not sure if we're going to even do any. What about you?

Re: Is there a Watermill thread?

invites will be ordered from a company. (they are included in a pkg from the wedding center)

as for favors...i have NO CLUE what to do for favors. i mean i need something cheap to do, cause by that point i'm gonna have to sell vital organs to pay for favors and incidentals towards the end.

what are you doing for favors?

also...have you booked hotels for OOT guests yet? should you wait 1 yr. b4?

Not dealing with Samantha..
If the weather is nice we'll be outside for cocktails, Astor for reception.

Vanderbilt for Ceremony...Restaurant for Cocktails...and Astor for Reception.

what hotels are you using for OOT guests? watermill only recommends holiday inn express...wasn't sure if i should just go w/them or search further.

Most likely we'll go with the Holiday Inn. I don't think we're going to even block off rooms. I think we're just going to put the info in there and let them all decide what/where they want to stay. All of our OOTs are orginally from the area so it's a possibility that they will just stay with family so I'm not too worried about that.

ETA: As for favors... I was thinking, if we do any, maybe glass coasters with a maple leaf on it. I have a PIB on the other site.

We are having ceremony/CH outside (hopefully) and reception in Astor.
I just booked my block of rooms at Holiday Inn Express, it's a nice property and the location is great, the price wasn't bad either.

For favors we're doing picture frame placecards and personalized M&M's in organza bags.

Re: Is there a Watermill thread?

We went to Samantha this week for engagement announcements (bc we're not having an e-party), and ill be the first to say that the 'discount' is not much at all. FH and I were just saying that we think it would be cheaper to get our invitations and favors elsewhere. But we shall see when the time comes.

Our BM is Brian and he was very nice to us when we booked. Havent dealt with him much after that, but we've heard good things.

Our reception is in Astor and our CH is outdoors, bostonian if its raining....

I love having a watermill thread!!!!

Re: Is there a Watermill thread?

Glenn is our BM and he is has been just wonderful...very hands on dealing with us.

Is there a time period you think you should wait before you book a block of rooms? We're gonna have a pretty decent amount of OOT guests, and the wedding is in February 07....is it jumping the gun to block off rooms in the next month or so?

Our reception is in the Astor room.

Samantha is a nice lady, I met her twice but I am not using her. I ordered my invitations from Laura ( LA Productions). She is awesome and I got 30 % off.
