so that if it gets wet it doesn't get ruined

What I mean is when you first buy something that is suede. Is there anything you can put on it so that it 1. doesn’t ruin if it gets wet and 2. it doesn’t turn hard as a rock.
I LOVE suede but it is so hard to maintain

there's scotchguarding spray or a product that can treat it so it's waterproof.
