but less expensive? I hear photoshop is $$$ so I was just wondering if there was anything alittle less expensive??

I dunno.... corel draw is a tad less expensive....
why not just buy an older photoshop version? cs2 is only $165 http://www.esoftwarevalue.com/productdetail/Adobe/Photoshop_CS2/42

Ask around and see if anyone you know has the CD of photoshop. That's how I got mine. Someone had it from an old job and about 5 of us passed it around and installed it.
I first bought Photoshop Elements. It was decent but it doesn't do a lot of the stuff most people are interested in. It really does depend on what you wanna do.
I think my fiance found out that the program that comes with a Dell is similar to Photoshop so if you have a Dell look into that.

really, photoshop is the best.... there is quite a learning curve, though.
consider getting the older edition... cs2. you likely won't even notice the difference in features... the upgrades are so subtle...
