Is there anything that Malts don't like to stand on?

We are having a problem with Scooby peeing on the base of the sink pedestal instead of on his potty tray. He seems to think it's a fire hydrant! He was neutered the other day and I'm praying once his hormones leave his system he won't be marking. But now it's a major problem. I thoroughly clean it with Nature's Miracle. You need to put a lot on the floor and then let it dry naturally. Then I even use bitter apple to keep him away. Nothing works. He just moves the tray away, so the obvious solution doesn't work either.

Just this morning I was thinking if there is anything I could put on the floor around the pedestal that he won't like standing on. Any suggestions would be better than what I come up with. Aluminum foil? find sand paper? Please don't hesitate to give me ideas.
