My girls are wearing chocolate brown gowns, and I can't really find good jewelry to go with the dresses - I'm a less is more girl when it comes to that
I was thinking of getting them costume jewelry earrings that are small and tasteful, then getting them tote bags, good perfume, and other smaller things to say thanks for being in the wedding.
Will it look bad if I don't get them something to wear the day of? I've only gotten jewelry from brides - usually I just wear it the one time.
TIA

Re: is there BM gift etiquette?
i didn't get my girls something to wear the day of - as far as i know, that is not a rule, just a popular thing to do.
Your gift idea sounds lovely!

I'm not giving my girls any type of jewelry. To me, jewelry is a personal taste and I would hate to give them something they don't like or only wear once. I also know I personally would want to be comfortable in my own jewelry, and not be forced to wear something... JMHO!

My BMs are wearing chocolate brown and I decided not to get them jewelry either. IMO, I think jewelry is more for the bride than the BMs given I have never worn jewelry from weddings I have been in again. I think you are good getting them all the other great stuff you mentioned. They will love it and probably appreciate it more.

I'm not buying my BP any jewelry to wear on the day of. IMO, they should be able to wear whatever they want to.

Re: is there BM gift etiquette?
My favorite gifts when I've been a bm have been things that weren't specifically wedding-related. (i.e., were not for wearing the day-of). So....I would get them whatever you think that they will like and appreciate

I agree with this. I did buy my girls inexpensive jewerly, but it's not their gift. I got them all coach bags that fit their personality and then a bunch of little stuff.
The jewelry is more for me so that my pictures look good, and I know that they will never wear it again.

there isn't any rule, it jsut that most brides do that as a convenience so that their bms match for pictures...but you can buy them anything from wristlets to jewelry to spa treatments to photo albums/frames to journals to cds to ipods/mp3s...in this day brides have come up with really unique gifts for their bms...good luck.

I love your idea. I'm not getting my girls jewelry. Go with your gut.
