Is there place card etiqutette?

Should place cards read:

Mr. & Mrs. John Smith
or
Jane & John Smith

I am unsure if there is a 'proper' way of doing it. So if you could let me know what you think, that would be great. Than if there are any children in the families, I will just give them there own place card.

I'm doing Mr and Mrs John Smith. Then again only one or two non-married couples are coming to the wedding (we are a bit older). We are only having 5 children (FN's) and they will get their own... Miss Rebecca Smith.

I think it depends upon how formal you would like them.

Hope that helps.

I agree...if it is an informal wedding you can definately put first names. If you're going for a more formal day, then I would use 'Mr. and Mrs.'...

I think we are going to do the Mr. & Mrs. That's usually what everyone has done at most of the weddings I've gone too.
