Is there tax when ordering from N. Carolina?

Is there tax when ordering from N. Carolina?

I spoke with the N. Carolina Furniture Company who has a showroom in NYC. They told me there is tax.

Has anyone else paid tax? If not, where did your order from?

I don't think we did! We did pay for delivery, but I can double check for you.

if they ship to NY...there should be no tax...unless there is a store/showroom in NY...

We purchased from FLSouth.
The way it works is in NC there is a rule that if you use a NC based shipping company to ship the furniture you bought in NC (it keeps business going/booming in NC) that the tax is lifted.
So in our case the shipping company that was hired to deliver our furniture to NY is based in NC, therefore we didn't pay tax.
BUT we did pay for shipping.
