I'm at a loss of what to get for our FG and RB. They will both be three by the time our wedding rolls around and I didn't want to get them something that they will grow out of.
I was thinking of naming stars after them through the International Star Registery, and maybe buying them a little telescope that they can see it? I figured it will always be something that they can have, they get a little certificate and the coordinates, etc.
I seriously have no idea if this is a good idea or not, but I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

I received that as part of a wedding gift and I have to be honest- I dont know how to find the star and the certificate and stuff is still in the box it came in, stored in the office ( at home). I just dont know what to do with it and if I had a telescope - I think I would look at it once and thats it.
For a 3 yr old I think its too old for them to appreciate or understand. At 5 maybe but not 3.

My daughter is 3 and to tell you the truth she would'nt understand it. What about getting them each a fg & Rb Bear from build a Bear. Just an idea that we are thinking about. Good Luck

I would go with savings bonds. Honestly as a college student every little bit helps.

I think they would be too young to understand-the bear idea is a good one! Kids go crazy for those things, I got my nephew one and FH one a few years ago and both love them!

I would give them a nice toy for the wedding but then hand a savings bond to the parents. its something nice that the kid will be greatful later on.

I agree with that fact that maybe they would be too young to understand it right now but it's such a nice idea. I actually did that for my BF for her birthday this year

I got mine video games and Barbies and little boxes with thier names painted on it, full of fun stuff.
I also got the FG a really pretty bracelet. She is three and loved it... she is VERY girly though and loves jewlery.
I agree that they might not appreciate the star gift because they are too young.

FH is an astronomer, and he says that is a scam. Besides stars that have been known since ancient times, all other stars are named by the constellation that they are in, and their brightness. It's a standard naming scheme.

NYBride did a story or book using the child's name...it sounds neat. I'll try to pull the post for you.
For my ring bearer (also my son) I bought him a silver trian, (it's also a piggy bank) from things remembered and had his initials and #1 ring bearer engraved on it!!
