Negotiating Price with a Florist..... do or a don't?
I met with a few florists. Asked for the same amount/type of flower(s) to be used and was quoted different prices. I liked on vender, should I go back and negotiate the price I was given?

DO negotiate with EVERY vendor (except your officiant or church donation amount lol)

I feel terrible when I negotiate...
I was quoted about $1000 difference in price. Should I give the vender I negotiate with the prices I was quoted from the other vender?

I would go to the florist you like better and say something like, 'so I went to a couple of other florists after meeting with you but I do have to tell you that I liked your work the best. However, I was quoted less by other places for the same things. Is there anyway you can come down on your price b/c I'd really love to work with you for my wedding.' They can either say yes, or no, or keep the price the same and throw in some extra stuff.
Either way you have nothing to lose. They expect it and some might even suggest you looking around. My limo and florist both suggested I check out a few other places first and then decide.

I would, the worst case is they don't budge. Most likely they will try to work something out with you regarding the price.

Thank you! What you wrote is really helpful!! I think I am going to write it on a card and when I go to my next meeting (I usually bring my paperwork with me) I'll hide it in amongst the papers and use it like a cue card. I don't feel as empowered when I negotiate...I'm going to have to work on that.

Call or Talk in Person?
To negotiate the price, do you think I should call or do this in person?

I didn't because the price was so good, but I might try to get it down by switching to low CPs because FH wants them.

I'd go in. It's a lot harder to say no to someone in person then on the phone.

my florist gave me a really good price to start with ... but i negotiated him down a bit more ... it helped that i agreed to make the BM bouquets a bit smaller (less flowers)

I'd negotiate with ALL vendors... there is no harm in asking

Yes, the florist did mention something like 4 different types of flowers in the BM bo-k's. That sounds like a lot of flowers.

Re: Is this a do or a don't?
The florist I fell in love with was able to cut over $1000 when I mentioned a competitor's pricing! I wrote an email flattering them to no end, and then saying I really want to work with them but need to stay under $X amount and she met it! Good luck - no harm in asking! Remember they want your business as much as you want their service.
