So FH and I met a photographer we really liked and haven't liked anyone else as much since meeting him. He even said that we would find photogs out there with lower prices but you pay for experience, which he has a lot of. I decided to cut down on photography costs, I wanted to basically do everything myself, albums, thank yous etc etc. So long story short, the deal this photographer is giving us is $2600 for two photographers for the full day and a CD with all our edited proofs. What do you guys think?

Re: Is this a good photography deal?
In my opinion that's a lot. I paid only a few hundred more and got 2 photographers, unlimited pictures, all my proofs in a book, the CD, thank you's, a digital acrylic album, 2 parent albums, 4-5x7's, 2-8x10's and all my pictures online for everyone else to see and buy if they wanted any. I loved my photographers personality and I love the way my pictures came out. Plus I got everything back fast! I was still off from work when I got back from my honeymoon and was able to pick up my proof books while I was still on vacation. I got my album last month. That took a little longer because I kept making some changes to the design of the book. Otherwise I had everything except my album by December and I was married in September.
I'm not sure how many photographers you went to but I would consider checking out a few more before deciding.
For a few hundred dollars less I am getting one photographer and his assistant all day, 2 11x14s, 3- 8x10s, 5x7s for all members of the bridal party, engagement shoot with all the photos on a CD + the rights to the pics, and my proofs are 4x6 prints without the watermark and I get all the rights to my wedding photos as well.
If you'd like I can FM you more info but I definitely think you could shop around still :)

Yea that seems like a lot to have no prints or albums in that price. Keep shopping around for sure!

I think that is a really good price IMO- We are paying 5400 total for photo/video, and the photo portion of that is like 3600 which includes the 2 photographers, albums, thank yous, DVD with edited proofs, and a few 8x10 photos for us. But 2600 sounds like a good deal to me- you're saving about 1000 by just making your own albums, thank yous, and printing your own photos.
If it is a really good photographer with alot of experience then I definitely think it's a good price. If it is a newer photographer with not as much experience I would say that it is too high

I'm paying a little less for basically the same thing, the second photographer will only be with us for a few hours not the whole day. I got a quote from another photog who was going to give us the second photographer for the whole day and two prints but I didn't get as good a vibe and I didn't like the work as much. I thought about booking the cheaper option but when it came down to it I didn't want to pick someone I wasn't crazy about just to save a few hundred dollars.

I think you may be able to find a better deal, but to me photography was one thing I didn't want to skimp on. If you like this photographer and his work and you have the $2600 to spend I say go for it.

Honestly, that is a hard question. I realized that choosing a photogragher is like buying a house. You really need to know what's your style, what you need and what you want. What you can live with and what you can't. I chose someone based on theeir experience, style and what they can offer. I was lucky that they did a private event for my family in January. So I got honest feedback from my mom on their style and professionalism. For the same price you listed I'm getting two photographers, video and albums. I need 3 parents albums but I can order books on shutterfly based on what my parents want, not a replica of the bridal album. So the albums I'm being offered is just a bonus for me. But thats what suits my family and I. These boards help alot but you have to choose whats best for your wedding! Good luck!

We're paying double that 2 photographers, edited proofs, blog post, and engagement session so I think you found a great deal! Ours is based in NYC so that contributes to the high price. But her work is SO good and I just had to have it... I say go with your gut. this is the one area you definitely shouldn't skimp on IMO.

I think you have to trust your gut here. Get some more quotes and then decide if your unsure. Best advice i've heard is to look at the pictures and see if you can see yourself in those photos. There are a lot of experienced photographers and their prices all vary as well as their styles. You dont want to pay extra just for a name but I also think quality is more important than quantity.
