I can't help...because I only know of one person who did an all inclusive and it was for 11 days in Aruba for $4000 (for both of them and included airfare round trip, with direct flights)

Doesnt sound bad, especially when airfare can reach $600 for each person/round trip. Is that week in march 'spring break'? That might have an effect.

I went to DR last year. What resort are you staying at? I stayed at a 5 star, Melia Caribe. It was beautiful. However, I think your price is way too high. I think I paid $900 a person. I will check and let you know for sure. DR is building up so right now it is cheap there. It was all inclusive. I had a blast. Let me know the resort. I can check with my friend that is a travel agent to price it for you too.

you should be able to get a lower price. i'm going at the end of the month and paying only $800 - 4 D/3N all inclusive.

If that's for 2 people and you're staying at a 5* resort, that that's not too bad. Otherwise, keep looking because I'm sure you can get a better deal. DR is a good choice though, my fiance and I went there last year and thought it was just beautiful and the people are really nice.

thank you girls for your opinions....it's the Secrets Excellence Resort in PuntaCana.....it's only 1 1/2 yrs old....
we are also flying out of Islip MacArthur which bumps it up a little bit and it might just be Spring Break, but I'm not positive!

I would shop that price around. I know Secrets is suppose to be a really nice resort and more money than most DR resorts but I have been to DR a couple times and went for much cheaper than that and I also went around Easter Break time. (Actually when I went - closer to Easter - it was more expensive than the week in March that I originally wanted. ) Also a lady at my work went to Secrets in May and she told me she paid way less than that (I know she paid less than 3000). But who knows the resort may be gaining in popularity and going up in price and the week you may be going may be a high travel week - also the airport may play a part in the price.

sounds high, DR is very inexpensive. my friend just booked 8 ays all incl. w/ airfare for $2400

does anyone have suggestions for Travel Agents to check with? My lowest quote was from one that another bride used and she beat the quote I got from a vendor on here!

Ladies, DR IS extremely inexpensive.. dirt cheap, in fact, but that resort is the most elite, exclusive resort there right now (in Punta Cana, that is) it's also an adults only resort.. and also, that's spring break time and they are becoming very popular for spring break which is why it's higher than usual..

Try Liberty Travel... FH and I met with Ruth in the Baldwin office (732 Sunrise Highway 516-546-9800). She was great, very patient and checking various combinations.
