is this a scam?

Ladies, I got a voicemail today from some guy saying he's from 'royal prestige' and that i won something. their number was 631 773 6373(6338). He said I was selected from some card i filled out for a drawing -- I never filled out any card for drawings!

Just wondering if you girls heard of this...

I called back and said to remove my number from whatever list I was on. The background noise sounded like someones house rather than a business.

NO! HUGE SCAM!
I GOT THAT ONE, AND ANOTHER ONE (might be the same one!) its a very shady area in huntington station, the building looks very deserted! and it turns out they wanted us to buy a condo be4 they awarded us all these prizes and a weekend getaway!

my DH flipped out on the guy cause he got the feel it was a scam, and all the pople inthe 'class' i guess didnt realize they were being scammed! and boy did my DH (well then FI) flip out! lol and the guy flipped our right back at him!

Huge scam....if you do an internet search on '21st Century Bride' and 'Royal Prestige', you'll see just how bad it is.

If you do a search on LIW, you'll see a lot of people who get those calls, and websites that show stories from people who got duped.

We managed to get out of it, because my DH told them that we wouldn't go see them until they agreed to go with his services!! (He's in sales) LOL

He called me twice. There are a lot of these going around. I got another call from someone who wanted me to go to a hotel by LGA and look at pots and pans????

Wow!! I just did the search on these boards and read the consumer affairs page. This is horrible! How can they still be around?!? and how did they get my number!!

I got a call from some company a few weeks ago telling me that I won something from a contest, meanwhile I never entered any contest! I went with my gut instinct and never called them back, and they called me 3 times! I guess since I never called them back, they finally got the hint and stopped calling.

Re: is this a scam?

We went to a presentation for Royal Prestige. They offered us a 3 day vacation if we attended the presentation so we went. Honestly if you sit though the presentation and just say no and leave, you will get whatever they offer and it's no big deal. The vacation however is kind of silly, you have to write ahead by a few months to reserve the trip and you have to pick first choice and second choice dates. The stuff they sell looks nice in the presentation, but you can get similar stuff for WAYYY less money.

I had 'WON' the same thing and I was all excited to go. Then I came on here and asked if anyone has heard of them and of course the girls warned me to stay away.

It is the biggest scam yet... don't respond. I had the same thing happen!

Some friends of my brother attended something like this. I don't know if it was Royal Prestige, but it was definitely a dishware 'class' where you sat in and got the hard sell.

In the class my brother's friends went to, they actually used psych techniques to wear you down to buy--they'll play 'good cop, bad cop' to divide the opinions of the husband and the wife, hoping one will wear down the other into buying.

One other thing I've heard about sessions like this is that if you try to leave the room to go to the bathroom, they will refuse and make you feel obligated (manipulating at best your own sense of politeness and etiquette and worst, fear) to stay for the entire session. Um, last time I checked, forcibly keeping someone against his or her will was kidnapping.

My brother, who is interested in mind-against-matter issues, actually wants to go to a session like this and see if he can resist the sales pitch.
