Is this crazy?

Ever since I became engaged, I've had all sorts of ideas about what I want for my wedding ... and some of them get to nitty-gritty of the look I want. Such as:

- I have a strapless gown, so I want a rounded necklace, not a pendant because I think a pendant is not complimentary to that kind of neckline.

- I think it would be strange for my sister (my one and only BM, chose to have a very small BP) to wear a tea length dress if mine is long, which it is -- again, it 'wouldn't jive' when she stands next to me in photo - not the same.

- Because I am having only one BM, I think it will look weird if my flowers aren't the same as hers - again, they should be symmetrical, the same. If I had 4 BMs, then I would have something different and all of theirs would match..

- I also would never have an odd number of BM because in pictures, I think it looks best when the bride's in the middle and surrounded by girls - when there's the same amt of girls on either side. I also think I would never have more BMs than GMs or vice versa -- again not symmetrical...

And the list goes on. Is something wrong with my brain that everything has to be so symmetrical??? Anyone else thinks like this? My sister thinks I'm insane. I also think that her dress has to match the linen colors and the flowers ... she disagrees... ???

Some things I feel that way about, like the amount of people on each side. I think we are both a little OCD!!

OCD, I think I have a touch of it myself. At least that is what my therapist tells me

You are not strange at all. A lot of us have small little things that we are each anal about.

I will have my girls in long dresses because I like the formality, and seeing as you have only 1 BM I can see where you wouldn't like the tea length. My MOH will also not stand out from everyone else. She will have the same flowers, same dress, and I will honor her in other ways.

As for the flowers. I do not think they have to be exactly the same, but I do agree that they should coordinate somehow. My best friend just got married, and the MOH had a mini verson of her bok, while the rest of us had something different. Lemme see if I can find something (also from that pink and black)

My mother and I just went dress shopping, and I LOVED one of the dresses she brought me. It fit me beautifully, but for some reason I could not get over the lack of symettry it had. I would have been constantly been pulling the material over to make me feel less uneven.

Don't worry about it. Some people have their thing where they want everything to be asymmetrical blah blah, and others need everything to line up. Just go with what you like and don't worry about it!!!

I agree with you on certain points - but at some point, we have to take a step back and think about what's really going to make a difference... and if it's going to drive you crazy in the end - cuz there will be plenty of that once the wedding comes closer...
If you like tea length dresses, go for them - I've seen a lot of wedding parties where the bride wore long and the BM wore a tea length, and it still looked beautiful... as for the colors matching the linens... mmmm... it wouldn't be a top priority... just as long as they're complimentary.
As for the flowers - you should have the same shape and similar flowers, but I don't think the same exact thing...
I have an odd number of BMs - at first I had an even number - but one dropped out... now I am not so concerned about it - b/c I am just happy that they will be there to share in the day with me...
Your necklace - I agree with you on that one - however, if the neckline is a sweetheart but strapless, you can do a pendant...
Just something to consider...

But, I totally understand your concerns...

I think you have, and I take it as a compliment. Actually right now finishing picking my bridal party is becoming a nightmare, because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. However, if I add one more it will be 7 on each side. I'm not bothered by an odd number because I think a good photographer can place people and make it not look awkward. But if I add 2 more, then we won't add anymore guys and it will be 8 girls and 6 guys. This is what will probably be what happens, but there won't be many pictures of us lining up, because I don't like the uneveness.

It's just how my brain works .. .it's like I don't even consider non-symmetrical things, not an option (but I guess if I was blown away by something that wasn't I would consider it ... but I wouldn't seek it out ... ) ... I was just wondering if anyone else thinks like this!
