Is this e-mail obnoxious or is it just me?

One of our new editors (who a lot of us think is pretentious and self-important) sent this message yesterday, to let us know he will be at a workshop this weekend (a PAID workshop in Miami)

I think it is obnoxious because he is getting paid to do this workshop. Am I being overly critical?

'I’m going to be doing a little charity work down in Miami, helping the poor, over-privileged would-be children’s book authors (most of whom, if their manuscripts are any indication, have never spoken to a child in their life) get their stuff ready to send back to me so I can turn it down with one of Dxxx's fabulous Xeroxed rejection slips. '

Why bother going if that is how you feel?

not you at all - I think it's a Publishing pre-req actually! This guy sounds just about every snotty editor that works at my company too. I can't stand that holier-than-thou attitude they throw in everyone's face either. One editor here at my job is so condescending , it makes me so mad! One time she rudely interruped an intern we had - just barged into her cube while she was in the middle of doing something and demanded that she 'be a dear and make me a new pot of coffee' she even brought the empty coffeepot to her desk!! UGH - remind me to be that much of an a $ $ hole when I'm rich and important...... can't stand these people!
