Is this formal enough to pass for china

Is this formal enough to pass for china

I didn't want to register for China b/c we live in a small apt right now and 1. we have no where to put it 2. our apt is not big enough to have people over to use it 3. we will be moving in a few years back to Missouri and I would be heart broken if it got damaged.

So I found this a Crate and Barrel. I really like it and it is a nice neutral color too.

What do you think?

I think it's fine. You get what you like. If people don't like what they're eating off of at your house, tell them to eat somewhere else!

I think that's great. One thing that's popular now a days is mixing and matching your china, and that white china with silver edging will go with pretty much anything.

Thanks ladies. I really love it, we were going to have it as our everyday but we switched it to the fancy. So we just have Pottery Barn Great White Dinnerware for everyday now.

The set from C&B doesn't come with a completer set, so I just got the teapot, creamer, sugar bowl and gravy boat that matches the everyday ware. So it will all blend. I can't wait to use it all!

Yes! It's so nice! And it does look formal but could be casual at the same time.

DEF!! that is very elegant. I'm not registering for china either. 1 we don't have a house yet, and i have no place to really keep it safely. And 2 i honestly don't even see myself using it. i mean really i think between friends, my family and FHs family.. i've only really had 1 or 2 people serve me on their good china. besides we are such a big family that we'd need way to many place settings for special occasions anyways! lol

But will you want china in the future? If so, register for nice china -- when else are people going to buy it for you? I think it's more special if it is received as a gift.

That said, if you don't want it, don't register for it. If you're going to want it, reconsider.

I have seen that pattern at C&B and almost registered for it as our everyday -- however, it wasn't dishwasher safe (so a no no for everyday dishes). It was beautiful.

Register for what you want and what you like. Plenty of people don't register for china. I personally really wanted it.

I love it! It's classic and formal enough to pass for china. I didn't want to register for china, but my mom insisted.
