IS THIS KID FRIGGEN KIDDING ME?

So I had invited a long time friend since elementary school to my wedding. He's part of a group of friends that I invited and I felt bad not inviting him. He asked if he had a plus one (I guess his flavor of the week) and I said sure, because everyone else at his table had a plus one.

So I add him and his flavor of the week to my guest list, have my final meeting, pay for everything.

Now I just got this message from him on FACEBOOK.

'Hey LeAnn I'm so sorry but I'm not going to be able to attend your wedding. Kate planned a weekend away for us in New Hampshire with friends not knowing it was the same date as the wedding. I'm really sorry I didn't realize earlier!'

Are you serious? So i just paid $200 for you and your flavor of the week and that's $200 I'm not getting back.

So this is my reply.. after I blocked him and defriended him. (We really weren't good friends anyway, and I regret 100% inviting him)

'wait really? lol you had the save the date for over a year.. okay no problem..
I already paid for both of your plates.. just in the future if you're going to attend a wedding you should't let someone know 1 week before that you can't go, especially when invited with a plus one. take care'

OK rant is over. I found a seat filler, and FH's family member can come now. So at least I'll have two people there who will eat. I told the seat filler I don't want a gift, he's a co-worker who's friends with 3 other co-workers so I'll stick him at that table lol

People just don't think, that's the problem. I had two people tell me they now decided on a plus one when the rsvp'd without one, 2 weeks before the wedding after I paid everything off and made table arrangements.

Can you tell them you can't since you already made your final payment? Or are they close where you would allow it?

Wow. People are so rude! That's terrible! Glad you got it settled and arent wasting money though!

I allowed one of them but not the other. The one I didn't allow honestly didn't have room at her table. I'm not telling my hall till the day of. My sister will let them know to add an extra setting during CH, just in case we have a no show and I don't have to pay extra.

I actually had very similar things happen to me. And when I said I already paid people swore they were still sending a gift.....I have been married for over a month still no gift.

I do love your response people should know they have done wrong and it isn't ok and u made that clear without being mean! I told my friends at the table to order extra food and eat up lol

It amazes me the nerve that some people have. They just don't realize the amount of time and money that goes into having a wedding. Glad to hear the you were able to find someone in such little time.

Yeah, people are super rude!! Besides not getting RSVPs back, I have people asking if they can bring a plus one. Especially one of FHs friends is making me nuts, he wants to bring this girl he has a 'wedding friend with benefits' relationship with. Like really?!?
