Is this normal?

Is this normal?

My dress came in last Thursday ( ), and I stopped in on Friday to check it out. It's exactly right. I asked about a first fitting, and she said I didn't need to have a fitting until early September, since my date is 10-12, and the seamstress would rather do as much as she can in one shot.

Is that roughly the same as everyone else's timetable? I always had the impression that there were multiple fittings over a couple of months, which is why you need to order so early. Is my shop just really really conscientious about keeping my costs down?

I only need a bustle. So my first fitting isn't until sometime in Sept. as well. I think the less work the dress needs, the less fittings you need.

my place wont even let me try on my gown until im ready for my first fitting. they dont like taking it in and out of the plastic in case it gets ruined. but they said my first fitting should be the end of august.

that seems normal... i had a first fiting 10 days before my wedding and my last one about 5 days before... like you, the dress basically fit the first time.

honestly, with all the wedding stress ---you don't want multiple fittings. you may gain weight, lose weight, be stressed and not even realize you're not eating and lose weight.... the more fittings they do the more they compromise the fabric. they want to get you in there as close as possible to your wedding and just get it done in one or two shots.

people with numerous fittings are usually getting the gown custom made so the seamstress needs to have her try it on as she goes or otherwise it was the wrong size or whatever...

That is normal!! I ordered my dress really early and got my dress really early. They do not want me to come in for a fitting until August because I could loose and or gain weight. They just want to do one set of alterations. Which now makes sense to me. I hope that I helped you out.

I had my frist dress fitting about a month and a half before my wedding. I had my second and final a month before.
If you start doing them now, you'll end up with a lot more needed only because as you get closer your gonna lose weight whether or not you want to and its easier on the seamstress to do as much all at once so that it'll still be perfect.
