is this normal?? dentist

u all kno i went to get my wisdom teeth pulled on saturday, well yesterday i was ina ton of pain...so i went back to the dentist who said that i did have dry socket, due to the blood in the tooth not clotting properly.... he recommened i just deal with the pain on meds and allow it to heal on its own instead of putting med in it which will slow the healing.. i m in so much pain it is insane, i feel like the left side of my face from my neck to my jaw to my ear is going to explode.. i m taking codine for gods sake and it is not helping.. i didnt even go to work today i feel so sick i dont know what else to do

Re: is this normal?? dentist

Sorry to hear you are still so sick

I do believe the pain is normal, to an extent.. unfortunately there is no way to predict how badly you will feel after a dental procedure. My mom works for a dentist and she says that some people get thru it fine, and others just experience a lot of pain

I would call to see if there is anything stronger the doctor can prescribe for the pain, maybe even some Vicadin just to help get thru it until you feel better

Sorry , and feel better

i would delay in sending his money for his services

then when he asks where it is you can tell him to deal with it

Re: is this normal?? dentist

Same thing happened to me, and I decided to have it packed with the medicine, which did slow healing but helped the pain immediately. It was horrible without it! Good luck!

Aww...I don't think it took too long--less than 10 minutes I think for one tooth! And it was much better after... To help it, definitely no smoking, and no drinking through a straw, and avoid carbonation. All hurt the socket even more. Try lukewarm soup--heat it, then let it cool down til room temp or so...Good luck, I know how awful it is!
