My cat is almost 3 years old. until this past December, I think that he had vomitted twice in his life. In december he vomitted 2 times, in Jan. 3-4 times and he vomitted again last night. We haven't recently changed his food and he isn't showing any other signs of sickness. He always seems to throw up over night. Should I take him to the vet? Everyone that I know who has a cat said that they tend to vomit more often than you would think. I didn't see any hair in the vomit but I don't really know what I am looking for. What do you think?

Re: Is this normal for Cats?
my cat vomits about 3 times a month...but he's almost 15 years old, so i always blame it on his old age.... i'd give the vet a call and see what they say. good luck!!

Can you tell if the food is undigested? One of my kittens has gotten sick a few times and the food looks the same way it did when he first ate it. Sometimes they eat too fast and then run and play with something and get sick.
Maybe he isn't chewing the food because of dental problems.
Some cats just vomit a lot. My parents' cat does. He lays down in front of the bowl, stuffs his face and then throws it up. The vet told us some cats do that.

Same thing happened to me... My cat never vomited now I see him dry heaving a lot and he threw up twice. Doctor said its just hair balls. Maybe it has something to do with the coat being thicker in the winter?

My cat can vomit on command. Mostly she does it when she's pissed off or nervous. Some cats just puke a lot , and some don't. If her behavior hasn't changed, I wouldn't worry about it. But take her to the vet if you're concerned.

Take him to the vet. You'd go to the doctor if it was you, you should do the same for him.
Catch disease early or you'll regret it and so will he. Since you can't ask him what's wrong it's up to you to take him to someone that can try to find out.
He may have developed an allergy to his food over time if you aren't feeding him extremely high quality stuff (but just changing the food might make him worse if he's got an illness), he may have diabetes or thyroid disorder, he may have a blockage.
Take care of this as you would yourself or your spouse.
