Is this price too high?

Hi girls

I got my first quote for photography.

It includes the following for about 8K:

Albums
CD with photos
8 hours of photography
8 hours of video
slideshow
MC/DJ

I feel like if I got these services separately I can do better...thoughts?

I'm paying between 5 and 6K for both video and photo. It includes an album for us, 2 parent albums, all proofs, thank yous, cd with proofs, dvd video, editing, and large prints (20x24, 11x14, 8x10s, etc). I don't have the slideshow or MC/DJ in that package though.

We're not doing video so I can't comment on that at all.

Our MC/DJ is costing us about $1400.

Our photo (which is our photographer and an assistant who also takes some pictures) is $2100. It includes the whole day start to finish, engagement photos, all photos high res no watermarks on CD, 1 album, and a $100 photo credit.

We're on the low end though and he's not well known or anything, but I'm looking forward to working with him.

Sounds like for your whole package you did well, especially if you're comfortable with the people and like them!

I am getting a ton of extras with my dj and paying about 2k... if i had gotten albums with my photo package, it woulda also been about 2k... oh and my video was about 1500... soooo $5500 for all that is what i would be paying

soooo 8k is not terrible... depends on if you like all their work and are comfy with them

I feel it's a little high! How was the quality of his work tho? IDK I think 8K is very pricey for photos/video. I had all of that plus some and was paying around $4,500 for the wedding that was soppost to happen in November but now I want something a little cheaper cause I dont want to pay that much money not to mention I will not do a video person cause all my friends that got married and did this said they watched the video ONCE and thast's it but that's your prefence.... JMO N good luck

I think that sounds like a lot.

I am getting video and photo for a little over 6K. I am using Imagine Studios. Lia is so sweet.. it's a husband-wife team. Maybe look into them??

I say keep looking for a better price. It sounds high but then again still look around and compare the quality especially photos....I've seen girls on here spend less for photos and they were gorgeous

i think you could get a much better price-photo, dj, and video is going to end up costing us around 4400 or so..

Yes, it does sound a little high but depending on who the photographer is and the videographer, it could be very well possible.

-Say an average for an DJ/MC package is 1200
-On the low end, a photographer for that package and say with a couples album and parent album, it would be around 2500 but I also got quotes for 4000 on the high end
-With video, on the very low end, say 1000 and on the high end, 3000

So, with the high end prices, again its not totally unreasonable and choosing certain vendors on your own would get you to 8K anyway but I still think you could get really great quality for less.

Im getting DJ/MC and percussionist for 1400
Photography for the 10 hours including cd proofs and a digitial couple album and eshoot for 2800
Video for 10 or maybe 12 hours for 2000 (which is a bit high
So grand total is $6200 for what what I think is great quality vendors.

I think thats too high figure the following is about average

DJ - $1200 - $1500

Photo - $3000 to $4000

Video - $1500

I think you could definitely save some more money by shopping around.

It sounds like a lot but I think combined it sounds alright. I just added up my vendors and it seems similar to what we are paying for photo/video/and dj/mc.

That sounds kind of expensive. I think you could definitely do it for less but it depends on what you are looking for. My Photo and Video cost under 5000. I haven't booked a DJ yet but I plan to go with the most basic package, which should be less than 1000.

That seems reasonable to highish depending on the following -- can you offer more details as to what you are recieving?

How many albums, how many pics in albums?
How many proofs guaranteed?
Hard copy proofs too?
E-shoot?
How many photographers?
Video disks?
How many copies?MC and DJ for how long? Basic lighting package too?
Is 8 hours of photo/video enough? Would be ok if ceremony, CH and RH back to back, but I don't know your schedule.

We paid 6,500 for photo and video, including main album and 2 smaller albums, e-shoot, 3 CD videos 10 hours of photo and video, 2+ photographers.

We paid 1700 for the basic MC/DJ package (I didn't include the cost we paid for extra stuff like CH painist and ceremony music).
