I think she's overreacting. We're you supposed to start doing the thank you cards as soon as the party ended?

That's crazy. It's been a week and a half! Not a year and a half! Reminds me of the Everybody Loves Raymond episode when Robert & Amy get married and they come home from their honeymoon and Marie is asking them about their thank you notes. Hopefully you are not dealing w/ a Marie Barone.![]()
I remember that!!!!!!!![]()

Seriously tho, just write her a quick TY and send it out even if you haven't done the others yet. This way at least she's off your back about it.![]()

(sorry, this is a little off topic, but might make you laugh) That reminds me of FH's grandmother....after our e-party, i sent out thank yous rather quickly because FMIL made it clear it was expected of me to get them out fast to the grandparents (which really wouldn't have mattered in reality) so the first one i write out is FH's dad's mom's b/c she gave us honestly, the most meaningful gifts......well, she also spent the entire summer and part of fall with her sister in WV instead of in her home in cocoa beach....so in OCTOBER when she decided to go home, she can't find it anywhere and causes a big ruckus as FH thinks i purposely didn't send her one. I wanted to smack her....instead i wrote out a new one.....but it was a total 'Marie' moment!!!!
LOL I totally remember that episode!
Like Marie Barone, she is over-reacting. It could have gotten lost in the mail for all she knows. Gimme a break, as if you don't have enough going on right now planning a weddings. Don't let this get to you. Some people are just hyper-sensitive.

That is just rediculous! She is def overreacting. Usually a month is the cut off...somewhere in that time frame...not a week!!

Sounds like a bit of a control freak. The simplest thing you can do is just send the card and then avoid talking to your dad's girlfriend ever again. She's always going to be a control freak (if that's her problem) and it's always going to be irritating for you.

I guess if you were not working (like the 'good old days') and making pies all day, you would time to do in 2 days. Unfortunatelly, in today's time 2-4 weeks is reasonable. JMHO.

Re: Is this ridiculous..or am I overreacting?
It took me almost 2 weeks to write and send mine out, and had I not had it in the back of my head to get it done, it might have taken longer!!!It is extremely ridiculous and borderline rude to ASK for a thank you!!!

i think she's over-reacting. her mom is probably trying to be all 'traditional' and thinks a TY should be sent IMMEDIATELY after the gift.
i think it's SOOOOO tacky to have ppl ask for TY card. i mean did you send the gift for the SOLE purpose of receiving acknowledgement?!
Well Said!

Who ASKS for a thank you???
Once you have your wedding, you will understand that the answer to this question is 'Everybody.'
My FIL *did* in fact start asking us about thank you notes the day we got back from our honeymoon. Apparently he went to another wedding the week before ours and had already gotten a TY from that, so of course we had to do likewise.
Then, about a month later, I got the following phone call from MIL - 'Grandma's upset that she hasn't gotten a TY yet, so she's decided that she isn't going to send anymore presents. ' What am I, 5??? You think that you are going to put the fear of 'no more presents' in me when I have done nothing wrong?
Fine - I don't want presents if you're going to ***** about not getting a card soon enough.Seriously, tell your Dad's Girlfriend that ettiquette states you have two weeks after receiving a gift before the wedding so she needs to CHILL.

I believe ettiquette says you have six months to send a thank you note. Tell her to take a chill pill.Welcome New Vendors
