Is this ridiculous or what?

I went to meet with a photographer the other day. Here is what he offered

Proofs- 250- all in 8x10 format
It is an additional $300 for me to add 100 proofs for a total of 350.

Albums- three albums- one for us and our parents. The catch with the albums, we have to fill them ourselves from the 350 pictures they give us. This means that we will not have a copy of all the pictures. And everyone will have different pictures in their album. If we want copies it is $19.95 a copy.

Plus, it will cost me an additional $200 to have the photographer come to my house beforehand to take pics. And they only come for an hour and a half.

Needless to say we are not using them. But how stupid is this? Anyone ever hear of proofs coming in 8x10 format? Don't you usually get a box filled with proofs in like 4x6 or 3x5 format and them you choose what you want for albums and then they fill the album and you still get all the pictures?What is standard?

Yup that sound ridiculous to me.

I think our proofs are 5x5 and they come in an album.

4x6 or 5x5 is the standard. Maybe they feel they are setting themselves apart from the crowd by offering 8x10 proofs. Truthfully, there are some situations where you can like a pic smaller and then hate it when it's an 8x10 so I don't think it's a horrible idea on their part. But if you don't like them in general, that's another story.
