i work with the coast guard and months ago an applicant came in who i was highly attracted to. he stood out in my mind b/c he was the perfect package of a sweet, charming, shy, down to earth kinda guy.. but i never persued anything b/c i was obviously in a very serious relationship and i would never do that when i was in love with my ex. i think this guy knew i had a crush on him b/c i was always blushing when ever he was around!! now obviously i m single now so im free to talk to whoever i want and that applicant was recently shipped to a boat. at the coast guard we have a database with every1's addresses so they can get mail from pple who wanna send letters to pple in the military. would it b really stupid if out of the blue i sent him a letter to say hello and see how he is doing.. i mean the worst that happens is he doesnt respond or he think im nuts..

Can it get you in trouble with your job? If not, I would send a little note, asking him how he was adjusting to the ship assignment....try to pass it off as normal protocol and see where it goes.

nope its not against company policy at all cause he is military and i am a civilian with the coast guard so i thought a short casual note would b perfect, glad to hear every1 agrees. lets see if he writes back..thanks for the advice:)

I say go for it...you have nothing to lose and something to gain! BTW, I asked DH out and it turned out great for me! DH is kind of shy so, since this guy is kind of shy too, it may be a good idea. Keep us updated!
