Is this stupid????????

I am so torn on doing a day after shoot. I had a christmas wedding and I love my pictures. I was thinking about doing a summery shoot in my dress like outside or on the beach since we didnt get very many shots outdoors. The shoot is 900 of wich I dont have. What do you guys think I should do??? I need help I cant seem to reason this out on my own. Thanks girls!!

We DID do a day after shoot, but we are still thinking about doing a shoot in the summer that's casual. Maybe because we never did an engagement shoot - we just don't really have a lot of pics of us, now we have a lot of us in our wedding attire. If you love your proofs and have a lot of proofs, maybe just do a photo session but not necessarily all dressed up in your wedding gown, but a more casual one? Just a thought.

IMO...if it's $900 that I didn't have. I would not do it.

Personally, I really don't see the point to day after shoots. Therefore I wouldn't be able to rationalize spending $900 that I don't have for pictures of me and my FH.

But on the same token, if you're thinking about it, $900 may just appear from somewhere.

It is a tough decision. However, if you're going to love the 'day after' pics, it will be worth the investment.

I do not think you should take more pictures in the summer. Your wedding pics are beautiful. You were married in December...why would you want to recreate a day that was already perfect??? JMO

You have to think about it this way...is it important to YOU! Is it something that you will cherish forever. If it is...then it is def worth it!!

same here. it's not really your wedding day, so why would you want pics in your dress again? i just don't see the point, especially if you don't have the money!

i think the day after pictures are a nice less formal touch...but its an extra. i personally would like to have them just because its another way to capture the moment. if its important to you and u feel that there is something 'missing' from your proofs...like outdoor pictures or you want more portraits, then i would do it, but if you don't have the $...then maybe hold off??? or maybe start saving little by little for it?

Thank you guys I am taking everyones advice into account. The only thing that I was thinking was that we didnt get many outdoor shots. PLUS I spent so much money on my dress and veil that i feel like I should wear it again Im just thinking outloud right now Thanks for Listening

I don't think you should do it...mainly because of the money especially if you don't have it, but also because you were married in December which is such a special time of year- with all of the decorations and all. I just don't understand why you would want to have summer shots as well. Maybe that is just me because I am also a December bride. I just think having a wedding around the holidays is so magical, not to say I don't love summer, fall or spring weddings, it's just a preference.

good luck.

I agree with the above...$900 is a lot. However, if it's something that you really want, why not shop around and see if you can hire a different photographer for a lower price? Some photography students or people that are just starting out are willing to do shoots for free in order to get more experience. I saw a few of those on craigslist.

I know the photographer I'm using has an a la carte price...$150/hour (3 hr min).

I'm sure your wedding pics are gorgeous! You got married at Oheka castle!!!!! I wouldn't go and do it so long after....First the $$ and second you know your wedding wasn't in the Summer, it doesn't make sense to me! just my honest opinion....

I personally don't think a day after shoot is neccessary unless you are unhappy with your proofs. Some of the emotions capture in your original proofs won't feel or look the same after the actual day. Plus, $900, I'm sure there are other things you could spend money on instead.

What if you had a talented friend with a digital camera take some pics for you? especially if you have some outdoor shots you wanted to recreate... At least its a cheap alternative, and if you still don't like it, then you could spend the money on the professional...
