I am placing labels on the invites (I know its not appropriate, but I am not running them through a printer)... I am now considering placing same labels in the 'from' section of the response cards, instead of numbering them... Would you say its a go, given I am already breaking the no labels rule?

I think a discreet number is better.

IMO, I donot think that labels are appropriate on a wedding invitation.

Re: Is this tacky?
Personally I think that will be really bad! The chances of a large majority of people forgetting to fill in their names is not going to be so bad where by process of elimation you should be able to figure it out. Wedding invitations should be elegant as they set the tone for your wedding. Just keep that in mind before using labels. Handwritten invitations is always better than labels. JMO!

I am being honest. Not everything can be praises. I do not like this idea. Sorry

Re: Is this tacky?
We numbered each of our response card in the bottom right corner with a small number, that is how we kept tabs on who did not fill their names in. I think only 2 people did not fill in their names. No go on the labels

Ok, you guys convinced me. I'll number the response cards, but will still use labels on the outer invite (I can't risk ruining them)

I am planning to do the same thing that Shamma did. I think that maybe labels are no the best way to go.

Since I already think the outer labels are bad, does the other envelope really matter? I say hire inkspun to print your envelopes for cheap and make them look nice.

shamma thats a good idea to put a small number in the corner so you know who did not put there names on the card.
I agree with the girls, no labels

I really do not like the idea of labels on invites. It just doesn't look right - it will definitely take away from the elegance of your affair. If $$ is tight, you can always just hand-write them.

Re: Is this tacky?
You can also use a template envelope with your computer printer, and practice on a few. There are great calligraphy style fonts now that look just as good as the real thing...a little time and patience will get it perfect. In fact, you'll spend as much time lining the labels up as you will the envelopes!

Re: Is this tacky?
Doesn't the plain handwriting look less classy than labels? That's what I would think if I received an invitation with plain hand writing... Our wedding will be informal and outdoors.

alina - just to offer another alternative -- Inkspun does digital calligraphy that looks great for just $0.39 an envelope....

If it's an informal wedding then you should definately do handwriting. Don't worry about calligraphy or anything. Do you have a friend with a good handwriting?

Re: Is this tacky?
Valenia, thank you, I was just checking their site as well. What does it mean 'digital' calligraphy = > sounds like they just print and charge me $ for it... Or is it more a thermographed look?
I may give them a call, b/c for 100 invites it may not be that bad.

Re: Is this tacky?
Yes, the print it on very good printers, and charge you money for it. I used them for my wedding, because the envelopes are an odd shape and I thought I'd ruin them and/or it would be a huge headache to do on my own. My printer would never have looked as sharp. They will send you samples if you are curious.

Re: Is this tacky?
I had Inkspun do both my inside and outside envelopes. I wanted to hire a calligrapher, but since it was just a rediculous price for something that nobody really cares about, i opted not to go with it.
I also didn't trust myself printing the envelopes myself and someone had suggested using clear envelopes... still didn't like that idea.
Bill at Inkspun was great... he was quick (finished 140 envelopes in a day) and the font was really nice. So if I were you... i would definitely look into Inkspun... plus think of all the aggrivation that is saving you.

Re: Is this tacky?
I ordered samples from inkspun, so hopefully they'll be nice and the price is definitely reasonable.
