We're having a Friday night wedding in October, and because we want to make sure we have all the picture taking time need, we want to have the church ceremony at 2:00 The church in is Northport and RH in Commack, and we're thinking about starting that at 7 (we have an hr and a half cocktail hr)
So in my imagination...people will come to the church who are family, close friends, and those who are local and then can go home from there...get dressed and then go to the RH at 7
I know that is a large gap and I also know a lot of people won't come to church because it's a Friday anyway but is that a rediculous amount of time in between? Is anyone doing this or has seen this done?
Thanks :)

Re: Is this too early
I just went to my cousin's wedding where this was the case - the church was at 3pm on a Friday, the wedding at 7.
I think that if you are ok with a good number of your guests not making it to the church, then its fine. There was a smaller number of people at the church, but those closest to the couple made the effort to be there, and I think that the ceremony felt really special and intimate - everyone there had a strong investment with the couple, and that made it lovely.
After the church, we went back to another relatives house for a glass of wine, changed our clothes and headed to the reception.
