After the entrances in the reception im going to sing a short song to my Husband, then we were going to do the first dance...then my brothers wrote a song that they will sing, and then the best men toasts.......Is that too much before the partying starts??????????/

Re: Is This Too Much
It depends, how many people at your wedding are family that would appreciate all the sentimentality vs. friends/co-workers that just want to be partying with you for the wedding?
One wedding I went to, the BM speech was so long you could hear people start eating their salads in the middle of it.
What about doing all of those things but breaking it up throughout the night? Get people eating and drinking ASAP then do your fun ideas?

Yeah, I think it is a bit too much. If you want to do it, I would break it up.

I think you can do whatever you want to do! Plus, it's better that you get all that done in the beginning... it would be annoying to STOP the partying to do those things, but doing it all in the beginning is fine! You only get one wedding, so if you want to do all those special things (which I think is VERY nice), then go for it. What's saving 5 minutes in the grand scheme of things?

i agree, it's really not for me to say if it is too much or not b/c it depends on what you want to do and how important it is to you-- esp b/c i think the people that know you and your FH and everyone else will think it's cute b/c you are special to them. but i quoted this specific part b/c i def agree with the stopping the party thing-- do it in the beginning so once things get started they just roll and there are no interruptions.... i dont even want the music at my reception to stop when people eat b/c i just want everyone to dance their butts off!!

I think it depends on the people you are going to have there and if they think it will be do much. However if that is what you really want to do then you should. It is your day and the only people you have to make happy is yourself and your FH.

IMO-I would break it up a bit. Perhaps you could sing your song right before they serve dinner? Maybe then your brother can do a song after the cake?

i agree-- it all sounds great, but sounds like too much all at once..... i think maybe theres other times for the stuff.... maybe have you could sing or have your brothers sing their song as part of the ceremony?? like have your brothers sing while you're lighting the unity candle or something..... i LOVE The personal touches, but maybe space them out a little- especially since it sounds like you're having 2 best men, which means the speeches cuold take longer than usual....

i think you should allot time between your singing and the brothers, it will make it seem more special that way.

What if your brothers sang their song while everyone sits down for dinner?

I think it is too much at once. But that is just my opinion. It is YOUR wedding and you should do whatever makes you happy.
