Is this too much to ask people to spend for a bachelorette party?

Is this too much to ask people to spend for a bachelorette party?

My sister was looking into the Sex & The City tour....I am completely OBSESSED with the show. They have a bachelorette package where you have the 3 hour tour of the city spots featured in the show in your own limousine...and then it includes dinner/margarita and gratuity. Sounds phenomenal no?

Well...check out the price. $170 per person. Ouch. I'm so sad. For one thing, this is only PART of the day. My sister said we could go to a club after and then do one of those crazy karaoke bars. but how could we expect people to spend any more money?

There's also another tour- the Samantha- that includes a VIP package at a club- that's $195 a person.

So what do you think? Should my sister even bother asking my friends? I feel awful to ask people to spend this!!

Thanks! I'm glad someone thinks that's not abnormal. FH thinks there's no way anyone's gonna pay that.

Anyone else? I should have made a poll haha!

hmm well, i dont know if its something you'd want to do, but why don't you take the tour separately without the package. i think we paid 50 or less per person when i went with just a few friends. it was still 3 hours, its just that we didnt get the limo and dinner (we did a free cosmo). they dropped us off at Tao in manhattan and we spent the rest of the night in the city drinking and having a blast. just a thought....

I don't think that's a lot. Have your MOH ask the girls what they think.

Now that I really think about it that's not a lot at all. Some bachelorette parties are in Vegas and So. Beach which can cost well over $500 pp. just for air fare and hotel.

I thought about that but at the same time- I keep it local so that it IS affordable ya know?

I wonder if we get a big crowd they'd knock off a little of that price...

I just feel like $170pp for a 3 hour tour in a limo w/dinner is alot- and that's only PART of the day.....

My BP would definitely not go for it. One of them cries poverty everyday, but she buys designer bags, goes out partying, and has recently decided to run a series of 5ks which are cheap individually, but if you are doing them every week, they add up.

Needless to say, I think you need to think of your bridal party and their financial situations.

I would think about doing this perhaps with my sister only - as a bonding day before the wedding.

Hey Tara!! I didn't realize that this was the tour you were talking about (actually I didn't realize there was more than one!)......the one we did was through Zerve- it's $37pp! But you only get a cosmo with it, but then again it's over by like 6:30/7ish, so you could do dinner after that and then hit some bars or clubs!!! I think that's a cheaper alternative if you want to save them some money! But if your not going to go to expensive bars later than you could always splurge for the tour and go with the $170. For one night out, I think anything up to $300 is reasonable, IMO.

Here's a link to the one we went on:

Thanks Helen- this is the same one- they just have customizable packages for bachelorette parties that include limos and stuff...my sister emailed that same company and got a reply with the customized packages.

That is definitely a cheaper alternative- I guess my sis just got really excited about the limo around the city thing. Does sound cool, no? I got so excited about it!!!! I just wonder if that's a long/expensive day. A tour that starts at 3, then dinner, then clubs, etc...who knows. I'm too obsessed with making other people happy! If money were no object, I'd SO go for that tour with the limo!!!

I say go for the $50 tour - if you're looking to save, a limo is the kind of thing I think would be expendable

If it's the only thing you're doing all night, I don't think it's so bad. You won't do dinner and drinks for much less than that anyway.

No, that is awesome!!!! I would totally do it. THose that don't want to spend that kind of money can meet up with you later. That is so cool!!!

My girls spent $260 per person at my bachelorette party and they were totally ok with it.. I say do it.. and get the VIP package!!!!!!!!!!

I'd say go for it... that is not expensive for a bachelorette party.. i would just keep the rest of the night at a no cover bar.. so they only have to worry about drinks etc. Sounds like a great time!!
