My girlfriend tells me that her Mom told her it is now ok to wear white to a wedding. Now, I know that it is no longer considered unacceptable to wear black, but white I had not heard, nor am I sure I believe this. what have you heard?

OMG, I hope not!
Unless it's some black and white themed wedding/beach wedding and the bride says it's ok. I would think not.
I can see black for a Saturday night.
I waited 34 years to get married, no one better show up wearing white to mine

maybe some dumb fashion mag says its ok...but i still think that most brides think that it isn't ok...only the bride should be in white

I don't know the 'rule' but it totally wouldn't have bothered me at all. I think rules like this are just too funny,
How do you mistake someone wearing a white outfit as the bride who is wearing a big white gown, with veil, and holding a bo-k, who is soaking up everyone's attention...
Honestly, I couldn't tell you what any of my guests wore. Everyone knew who the bride and groom were!
