One of my close friends I invited to my e-party w/her boyfriend told me they were both coming. She found out that he is going away that weekend so he can't come. Sounds fine right? Well, she asked me if she could bring a friend in his place that I DON'T EVEN KNOW!! I understand her not wanting to come alone, but is it strange for me to meet her friend for the first time at my e-party? Besides the fact that my grandparents and aunt r paying pp., I think it is kind of ballsy of her to ask this. What is ur opinion? What do I tell her, I said I'd get back to her.

Re: is this weird??
I dont think its that wierd. If it was your wedding, then yes. But if your budget is tight I would tell your friend that.

Its not weird you can look at it like you were going to pay for her BF anyway he not coming so she's bringing her firend its the same 2 people

I don't think it's weird either, at least she is letting you know too in advance that she is substituting a friend in her b/fs place and not just show up with him. Either way you are paying for 2 people, like everyone said.

Thanks for the input. I just thought that since I didn't invite some single friends + guest it wouldn't be fair that she could bring a friend and they couldn't. I guess ur all right. This is y I consult the LIW girls before making quick decisions!!

I would be a a little taken aback - but I wouldn't freak out about it... BUT IF THIS HAPPENS FOR YOUR WEDDING... I would definitely say something!

I think it's good she asked. I know that when you're allotting space for people to come, you hope that those people can come and not 'replacement' people. But at the same time, you invited this person plus a date by name, correct? If it's just 'and guest' basically that's open for the person to bring anyone. I think I might have problems with this for my actual wedding day, but I'm just going to have to put my foot down!
