My parents are hosting an e-party for us in a restaurant. We are only having our immediate families (which totals to about 60 people), so my mom didn't want to include the bridal party because its just too much. My MOHs will be there - and best man cause he's FH brother, but the whole group won't be.
Is this bad? I explained to my friends thats its too much to have everyone, and they seemed OK, but I feel like its weird to have an eparty without the full bridal party.
Thoughts?

since your parents are hosting it and it's an intimate party, i'm sure your friends will understand- it's not your choice. personally, i couldn't imagine having an eparty without my BP since they're some of the closest ppl to me. each situation is different though, so if everyone in your situation is ok with it then it's fine. i don't think there are many hardcore rules with wedding stuff anymore, so don't worry

I think it is a difficult situation because your parents are throwing your e-party for you. Personally if it was me, I would probably ask my parents if they wouldnt mind inviting the rest of my bridal party, even if i had to cover their cost myself. If you really want them to be there, then maybe that is an option? Good luck!

I would have asked that, but to have the full bridal party would have been like 20 more people and like $1k. Half of them are in very serious relationships/engaged/married, so their significant other would be invited and it was just getting out of hand.
It makes me sad that they won't be there, but there isn't much I can do...

ITA My mom paid for our e-party and I limited my friends who got invites to only my bp.

I don't think it's a weird thing at all. It sounds more like a family celebration than a formal engagement party. I don't think your friends will be upset about that.

Since your parents are throwing the party you really cant just add on the whole BP and their Guests unless they say its ok.. It would be a lot for your parents since they are paying for it all. Im sure your BP will understand.

Why don't you do the engagment party at the place, and then have an after party with the bp? that way they can be party of the celebration, without having to be at the formal party.
if an after party is no good, then you could set up a seperate thing where everyone just goes out together to get a drink or you have everyone over to your house for pizza- just to get everyone in the BP together to help in getting the ball rolling and getting everyone in the wedding mood, you know?

To be honest, I would be really offended. You and your FH should offer to pay for these people so that they can be there. They are going to be spending a lot of $$ on you soon and it seems wrong to not have them at the first of the pre-wedding parties. I'm sorry but I'm just being honest

Ya, I hear what you're saying. Only thing is this is more of a family party - I'm only have my best friend there (I don't have any sisters) because she's one of my MOH. The bridesmaids already got together a couple weeks ago to meet at my MOH's house, because they wouldn't be there.
I am thinking of organizing a dinner/bar night for the full group so everyone can be together.

Re: Is this weird....
that's tough. but these are the people who are closest to you.
I would be really offended if my best friend/friend asked me to be in her wedding party and then i wasn't invited to their engagement party. I would prefer them telling me that our significant others couldn't be included instead of not being invited myself.
if you have no choice then i think it's a good idea to have some sort of celebration with your friends after the dinner.

I guess if it's more like a family thing they will probably be ok with it..but I'd miss them all since those are the people I'm closest to

idk immediate family =60 people? Thats kind of a bit too much to be considered intimate in my opinion, I wouldn't feel right about it.
