Would you believe that after the adventure I had trying to get home on Thursday (I work in NYC and walked 40 blocks and then waited for two hours and took a bus to Queens and Dad and FH picked up), I came home to find out that all of my family and my parents' friends called to see if I was okay, but none of my bridesmaids (my closest friends)did. Two of them are teachers and they were home and the third was on vacation at home. Everyone was home and no called my house to ask about me. Does this sound weird?

Re: Is this weird?
People are just rude....no one except my husband and my sister called to see where I was and to see if i was ok.
I tried calling my parents to let them know when I'd be home but I couldn't get them all day yesterday. When they finally picked up the phone in the afternoon I was like where were you I was trying to call you. My dad said he went golfing. . I was so mad.
Oh well just teaches me again that the only people I trust and count on is myself and DH.

Re: Is this weird?
I was wondering the same thing about my DH - he was stuck in the city, and didn't get home until the following day. A lot of our friends and family didn't really reach out to him to see if he was ok. Even yesterday and today - I thought that was a little odd, but whatever. Maybe everyone handled this differently.
On the same note, I don't have much patience for those that complain about restocking their fridge - if that's the worst that happened ther were really lucky. I know everyone was affected differently but throwing out expensive meat can't compare to either being in the city that day or wondering where a loved one was (I noticed this more with people I spoke with - not anyone here!) JMO.
I'm just thankful everyone I know was ok.

I guess I just found it odd that everyone's landline was working yet no one called my home number and asked my parents if they had heard from me. Actually, none of my friends have called me at all and today is Saturday

Re: Is this weird?
No one called me but I only have a cell phone and it was not working. My inlaws, who live in Long Island, said that their cordless phones were not working. A friend of mine who lives in my neighborhood said that he had problems with his land line. So I'm just saying that there were phone problems on Thursday and Friday morning. But I'm glad to hear that you are all okay!

Re: Is this weird'
Only 1 of my BMs called me....so I told her she's the only one who's getting a nice gift, and if they others ask why, she can tell them!
Seriously though, I did try to call 2 of those who didn't call me and I couldn't reach them, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Besides, I think they all have cordless phones (as do I) so they wouldn't be able to reach me anyway.

I understand that not everyone had phone service, but it's SATURDAY already and no one even called to ask how I got home. For all they know I could have slept on the sidewalks of NYC. One of my bridesmaids lives four houses away and could have walked up the street to ask my parents how I was but she didn't. There were a few friends who were concerned. One good friend was stuck in traffic in Nassau Cty and he called to see if I had taken a bus anywhere to Queens yet (I was still standing waiting for a bus) he thought he might be able to help. And another friend who lives in the city called me on my cell to offer to let me stay with her but I didn't get the message until the next day because cell service was down.
I guess I am just bummed that friends who I have had for 20-someodd years didn't call my parents to ask how I was
