Is this wrong?

Is this wrong?

Let me start by saying I hate to answer the phone.

A little while ago, I was sitting here at the computer and the phone rang. I looked at caller id and didn't recognize the name, so i let the machine get it.
Well, some woman left a message on the machine for someone else - obviously a wrong number.....and i sat and listened - didn't bother to pick up to tell her it was a wrong number...is that mean?
should i have picked up to let her know she dialed the wrong number?
i mean, our last name is on the answer....as well as the phone number...so shouldn't she have paid attention to that?

am i a bad person?

I dont think you are wrong. That's happened to us too. My brother keeps getting calls on his cell phone. He knows its wrong number thru caller ID but he wont answer and tell them. He also has his name and a whole personal voicemail message. Hes like 'They should listen to the message, not just the beep'..LOL
You are not a mean person!

Ii used to call people back sometimes, when they left a #, & thought I was a washign machine repair business. Everyone told me I was crazy- I mean, you would think my 'hey this is Heather. . ' message would make it clear I wasn't a business, but it happenned a lot. I only called people back if they called a lot.

I don't think your a bad person. I am sure the person will realize the mistake when they don't get a call back.

no its not wrong. you are not the yellow pages, its not your job to let people know that they dialed the wrong number.

The fact that you are even questioning it means that you are a good person! And no, it's not wrong, what if you really weren't home? That, and if she had two chances to realize it was the wrong number (your last name AND phone number!) then it's her fault!
