So my wedding is in LI. Most of my guests will be coming from Bklyn. Do you girls think I have to provide like a party bus, so people can come and not worry about drinking and driving? Who is doing that? My mom brought this up and not I am thinking about it but its like around extra 1k expense

Are you having a hotel block at all? That's what we did. We blocked rooms at a local hotel (LaQuinta) and had a shuttle running from the hotel to the reception. People just parked at the hotel and took the shuttle to and from the reception. Are all your guests coming from BK? If so, a party bus only holds so many right? I'm not sure how that would work.

well not all but a lot some are coming from SI and some from Jersey. I am not having a hotel block. I mean most of these people drive. But was just thinking if I have to provide transportation for them. I dunno I am so confused

if you can afford it, it's def a nice touch ... but before you book it, ask around to see how many people would actually take the bus (they'd still need to drive to and from the bus pickup area so they still can't get trashed)
but if you don't have the extra $1k, then i wouldn't bother with it. Nobody will be upset if you don't arrange for their transportation.

this what we are planning on doing. We have people coming from all different directions and the RH is 45 mnins away from the church. We are just going to block a large amount of rooms, have the shuttle take guest sto and from the hotel and then afterward, maybe even have a little after party in the bridal suite.

No you don't. I have been to tons of weddings in queens and Brooklyn (and some of these weddings were platinum type weddings) and no one provided transportation. If you are having a hotel block then maybe from the hotel but not for the guests that are just driving in for the few hrs.

In that case, I would say you don't have to provide transportation at all. I've never heard of anyone doing that. Where would everyone meet? A central meeting point? How many would the bus fit? I don't think it's necessary at all. I do think since a hotel block is free and so is the shuttle, that a hotel block is in order. A lot of people will be drinking a lot, and driving back to SI, NJ, and BK is a trek! They should have the option to stay over at a hotel. Is your bp staying in a hotel that night? How is the bp getting home?

Re: Is transportation necessary?
We are getting a coach bus. The wedding ceremony is at a church in Valley Stream, and the reception is in Sayville, which means it's like 45 min-1 hr of traveling to the reception. Also we have guests coming from all over. We blocked rooms at a hotel 10 minutes from the reception, so people can drive straight there, hang out at the bar and catch the bus over to the reception and then back at the end of the night, at which time we're hoping everyone will hang out at the hotel bar for a while after the wedding's over. We felt it was a nice thing to do because of how far away the reception is, that it's on a Friday night, and we don't want anyone drinking and driving. BUT in no way do I think it's necessary for people to do this and you shouldn't feel obligated to, it's definitely an expense.

well i was thinking for a bus to wait people at one location in bklyn and then after the wedding drive them back to the same location. About bps, most of them are married or have bfs their bfs will come to the wedding and then they will go home with them. But I also feel like its an extra expense to provide a bus for my guest.

We are only doing shuttles from the hotel for guests staying there...everyone else will just drive out the day of and drive back.

Re: Is transportation necessary?
I'd say if your having a hotel block, then it's a nice gesture. But I def do not think it's necessary to provide transportation from Brooklyn.
