Don't worry about it. I t hink that a honeymoon is really what YOU make of it. I found myself looking at reviews all day long, The negative ones I feel some may have been true but 90% were just some crazy stories.

sorry im an 07er
2 years ago i went to an all-inclusive place in Mexico. after we booked, i checked out tripadvisor and almost wanted to cancel it - people were saying there were wild animals, it smelled horrible, the food was inedible all these horrible things

well we got there and loved the place - had none of those problems and had the best time - so dont go by what people say on ther e- alot of times they complain about tsuff that is clearly not included, or of course ur not going to like every choice on teh menu - they are jsut overly critical and exaggerat ALOT

OMG, i'm obsessive with it. I'm going to Mexico on Saturday and I check it every hour for a new review of the place
As for the honeymoon, we didn't book yet, but I have been checking two hotels on tripadvisor. There are great reviews and terrible ones. There are just always people who had a bad experience, for whatever reason, and rip the hotel apart!
I have been a tripadvisoraholic for years now though. We go away about twice each year for the past 5 years and I have always seen good and bad reviews about the hotels we go to. But we are not the type to complain about EVERY LITTLE THING. If our air conditioner in our room isn't working so great, it will not kill our vacation, while others will mope around the resort and look for every bad thing to post to others and make them scared. because one little thing made them mad.
anyway, I think I need to invent a tripadvisor rehab for myself

i've lucked out with Trip Advisor, every place i checked on there either had all good or all bad reviews with like one or two of the other thrown in.

i havent checked the place that i booked at b/c i don't need that stress.

just remember that there will always be people who have a bad time. it's up to you to make the best of your situation in life, honeymoon included.

you'll have a fantastic time!

I am the same way! I'm actually going to Mexico in September and I check it every do too. The newest review is the only negative on I've seen about my hotel, and I felt like I was punched in the gut. I'm so bad, I even read the reviews of the place we were thinking about going in Aruba (we were deciding beween the two) and kinda hope to see negative reviews just so I feel better about our decision.

I think you have to read between the lines with those reviews though. For example, the recent one about my hotel sounded like sour grapes because they didn't get upgraded. Nothing really long with the place. But if I see a ton of reviews complaining about something important to me (like cleanliness or something) I do think it's helpful.

It's a little like LIW that way. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, so you can't let one persons opinion about your RH or band or something freak you out. There should be a pattern to the complaints before you really start to freak!

Sometimes you have to take their reviews with a grain of salt. We went to a place in mexico that we loved and it had some bad reviews. Some reviewers said stupid crap like 'the staff only says hi to you b/c they have to' . Who the heck cares!!!

FILs heard bad reviews of cruises that they were on at the same time as the reviewer and they had absolutely NO problems.

I use it ALL the time, but you have to understand that some people are super picky and also, if someone has a fight with their spouse, then their everything else may bother them after that. If you go to a hotel and are stuck up and arogant to the staff, you probably wont gt the same service. You dont know how these people treated the staff to get bad service.

There is some truth to some things, but not every single person will like every single place.

Also, reviewers complain about places, but dont understand that sometimes they run on 'island time' and are a little more laid back.

Some people travel A LOT and nit pick everything and compare and contrast every hotel and you just cant do that.

I usually just take it with a grain of salt and dont avoid a place unless ALL of the reviews are really really bad.
