Is Weight Watchers right for me?

Is Weight Watchers right for me?

I'm not overweight according to the BMI index but I would like to loose about 12 lbs that I have gained in the past 4 years. Is it worth it to join WW or should I just go to the gym and diet? What do they do? What do they teach you?

I absolutely love WW. I joined about 2 years ago and lost 20lbs. I particularly like it because it teaches you to eat properly and to eat whatever you want. It's all about portion control. Atkins and South Beach, IMO, are quick fixes to loose weight fast and temporary. No one is actually going to omit carbs from their diet for the rest of their lives, but they will eat the foods they like, but learn how to eat in portions. I just joined WW again, but this time I'm doing it online. I have to try very hard to be honest because in the end, I'm only hurting myself. If you do decide to join, good luck and if you really stick to it, you will loose the weight. It just takes time as you average about 2lbs a week. So if you're looking to loose about 12lbs, it should take you about 6-7 weeks. FM if you'd like to chat more about it. Also pick up a WW magazine, they nice to read and have great recipes. My husband loves my WW recipes, he can never tell the difference.

just a fyi, ww has weight guidelines and they won't let you join unless you weigh a certain amount. if you are within a healthy weight range i don't think they will let you join. how tall are you? i can try to look up the minimum weight you have to be to join. but you could always join online an lie about your weight if you are under their weight guideline. when i joined a few years ago i wanted to lose like 10-15 pounds and luckily i weighed like one pound over their guideline so they let me join. i do love ww though. it's a great program

WW is the best program there is, IMO. They do have very healthy guidelines though in that, if someone is not at least 10 pounds overweight according to the charts they use, they won't take them. (At least they won't just take your money, right?)

If you find Weight Watchers is not the right fit for you. I suggest you look at usana health sciences. The products are low glycemic and taste great. Several people I know are taking the shakes, meal bars and vitamins and love it. Some of them have lost 15 - 20 pounds in 2 months. goto http://healthyny.usana.com. You can order right off the website and it will come in about 4 days. Good luck.

Actually, I was already within my height's weight guidelines, but I had gained 15 pounds and wanted to lose it. I did great with the WW program and am now at my goal weight, hoping to maintain it!

Good luck!

I got the at home kit for 99.95 I am in my 5th week and I lost 7lbs so far..right now i am averaging 1 lb a week. MY FH did it with me and he lost 18lbs!!!! I am so proud of him

I have never looked better nor has he in like 4yrs

my goal is to be at the weight I was when me and the FH started dating...(I am almost there! about 6lbs more)

BUt we love this diet well it i dont really think it is a diet it is a way of eating. I still eat what i want just controlled.

This is the best thing we have ever done and i would reccommend it to anyone.

i tried SB for a month and was miserable although i lost weight i gained it right back

I also go to the gym 3 times a week for 1hr 1/2..any execise helps even just walking!

good luck

I'm in the same boat and am trying dieting on my own before spending the $ on WW. I didn't know they turned people away though. I guess that's good or else even super skinny people could join.

I recently joined ww. I lied about my height, i knew that my weight was slightly over their suggestion, but i still wanted to lose 10-15 lbs. so when they asked me my height, I lied and said I was two inches shorter, that way my weight was over for the height i'd given.

That's how I am. They're having a summer special $49 for 5 weeks. I figure that'll help me learn to eat better and maybe drop 15 pounds or so. They even told me that I'm in the 'range' already, but after I lose 5 pounds, we'll have a session to discuss my goals. I don't even have a goal weight. I feel weird though because some people are very obese and I just want a little advice. oh well.
