Long story short I saw a video of a wedding at my RH and saw that the band is on the same level as the people dancing. It did not look good to me at all!!!! Someone said to me that there band brought there own stage--- but when I called my band they said that it would be an extra FEW THOUSAND dollars for a stage (because they bring a crew and lighting and its not at all simple)
So I was wondering---- 1. Are you having a stage of some sorts? 2. If so... Does you band/dj throw it in with the package or was it an extra expense?
My band told me to contact RH or my florist to see if they might have something less expensive for me to use.
TIA Ladies!

Re: Is your band/dj bringing a stage?
I'm sure there are DJ companies who do provide their own stage (at a cost of course).
Our DJ will be floor level with the dancefloor though.
EDIT: Also, I'm so sure that people will even notice or think it's look strange if the DJ is not on a stage. I would save yourself the money or use it towards something else in the wedding. If you have it in your budget to do so later on and really want to, than you can add the stage option in.

Re: Is your band/dj bringing a stage?
Negative. My DJ is NOT bringing a Stage. MOST if not all DJ's do not carry around a stage with them. They usually even borrow a table and table cloth from the catering hall to use behind the booth for the CD's and stuff. In 7 years I've never worked a party where we brought our own stage for us to be on. If your talking about stages for people to dance on that's another story.
I'm not sure about Bands.

Re: Is your band/dj bringing a stage?
my venue actually has a stage, so they will be above the crowd,
however, the past few weddings i went to didn;'t have a stage, and it wasn't a problem the band still stands out - they are usually set back a bit from the dance floor.

My RH has a platform/stagey thing so the band is going to set up on that.

IMO you don't want your band on a stage bc your wedding should be a party not a show...you & your FH should be the main attraction...the band just gets everyone up dancing...but everyone is there to see u..not your band...

Re: Is your band/dj bringing a stage?
I tried posting this before and it didn't work - argh. Long story short, I rented a 14 by 6 ft platform from Omni Presenters in Melville to accomodate my 8 person band at the Woodlands last year and it was a cinch and in total ran me about 1,000 for rental, set up and breakdown. The band looked great, it hid the wires, and it did not seem complicated at all to set up. I don't know why your band thinks it is so complicated? Just work with your BM to get the measurements of the room and see what size platform you can fit without compromising dance floor space (probably more of an issue at the Woodlands than it would be at Oheka). Neal from Omni was great, very helpful and accomodating and I absolutely reccomend them!

Re: Is your band/dj bringing a stage?
Thanks for the advice! i went to a wedding recently at woodlands and it had a stage (which got me started on this whole thing, because the band looked great there).
My band only has elaborate stages (which is why they cost a lot and why they recommended i go elsewhere).
I am going to contact the company you mentioned!

Our DJ will be floor level. I would never want a stage at my venue. Wouldnt go with our ambiance
