Isn't it BS that we are charged tax on the service charge?
The 20% extra gets taxed, and then they say that that's not a tip, it's a 'service charge'.
I know its common practice, but sometimes it bothers me, I just wish they would raise the price and not try to BS me.

Our 'service charge' and tax were each applied separately to the total bill. That's how it SHOULD be done.

legally, they can't charge tax on gratuity...they are calling it a service charge to get around that, but it still sounds fishy to me.

Us too. But they CAN legally charge the tax on the gratuity, I looked into that. One more reason I love the Woodbury CC.

Ours was done separately as well - it stinks that other places charge that extra tax!
