We just got our first RSVP with more than we invited checked off. We invited a cousin and his gf on my fiances side and they checked off 3 people. Which means they are trying to bring the gf's kid. AHHHH!!!!
Our invitation clearly states 'Adults Only' reception and it was addressed to Mr. John Doe & Ms. Mary Wilson. Not them and also Ms. Wilson's kid!!!!
What is wrong with people? I didn't even invite some of my older cousins with dates b/c our guest list was getting out of hand. Why would I want some lady's kid at my wedding, when she isn't even family??!!!???
This is not going to be fun to try and handle. I don't know how to proceed from here.
Any feedback??

can you call your cousing and say ' i think your hand writing was unclear was that 2 or a 3 i figured it was two you and ____ and then if he says and 'sarah' you can say oh well its an adult reception only !! the only children are the bridal party ! (that is what im having just an example) so its clearly stated but not rude! HTH

Well it's my fiance's cousin. So I'm going to wait to talk to him tonight after work. This is just so uncomfortable. I really don't want to deal with it, but I'm always the one who has to 'man up' and deal with things.

hmmm ... this is really sticky ... if its your FH cousin maybe its best if your Fh talks to him .. you know sometimes guys dont care about these things so his cousin will probably be like okay whatever and then his gf will have to deal with it

Yeah it is def sticky. FH will have to handle it, he just doesn't have the best family communication. My FH is 6'7' and about 275lbs....but a big baby when it comes to having to speak up for himself. It really is funny how often I do all the 'hard and uncomfortable' stuff.
He also has an Aunt that is not afraid to speak her mind, so maybe she would be willing to help us with this dilemma.

I'm sorry to disagree with some of the posters, but I don't think it is sticky at all! They are the rude people. You clearly addressed the invitation to 2 people only, that means only 2 people are invited. Also, you clearly stated it's Adults Only! What I would do in your shoes ( and I can't wait until someone tries to pull this cr@p with me) is call up my cousin and say ' sorry, there must be some confusion, but I only addressed the invite to you and Jane. ' If he has the b@lls to say something back, simply say' sorry, the invitation is just for the 2 of you, I understand if you need to change your response to no'. Thas' it, end of story.
Good Luck, stick to your guns, because if you don't , you are going to find yourself making lots of concessions you didn't plan on.
I hope I don't seem harsh, it just makes me so mad when people are so rude!

Oh, yeah I totally agree. It's just that he's not MY cousin. If he were MY cousin, I would've already called his ace to tell him it aint happening. I don't really know FH's cousin that well....met him twice for about 30 minutes each time.
So FH should handle this, correct?

Sorry, I read your OP too fast, you did say it is FH's cousin! Yes, I would have FH handle it. If he doesn't or won't, then I guess it will have to fall on you! Hopefully, it won't fall on you!

Re: It has started...grrrrr
I would call HIM and NOT his girlfriend and politely explain that the wedding is adults only.
EDA: Just read your 2nd post...let your fiance handle it!!! Don't be the bad guy!

Thanks Girls!!!!! I really don't know what's wrong with people either. The funny part is my shower was this past weekend and FH's cousins GF didn't show or even send a darn card. So now, I'm supposed to let her bring her daughter....I think NOT!!!!
