so last night my FMIL calls me to tell me that FH's cousins booked flights for the whole family (kids included) before they got the invites. We are unable to have children at the wedding. So now they are complaining that the kids were not invited. We discussed this with FMIL before the invites went out-no surprise no kids. So shes like now what do we do?? What do we do- tell em no kids!!!! Letting them come opens the door to about 50 kids total!!!!! People make me crazy!!!!
sorry ladies - just needed to vent!!!!

Oh man - that S U X! My cousin didn't want children either, so she found a good babysitter (recommended by friends) and had her watch a handful of them at the hotel for those who needed sitters. Maybe you can do something like that? If you can't afford to pick up the tab yourselves, maybe just offer it as a service to the guests (i.e. 'If you need a sitter, please feel free to call Mary, she'll be watching kids back at the hotel during the reception). Good luck & HTH!

See if you can get a few names of someone who would be able to watch the kids, check out a babysitting service, or go to ballys fitness and ask someone who works in the baby sitting area if they would do it outside of there place of work, at least it would be an option so nobody can say to you, we cant come because nobody can watchmy kids thats just wrong. Im so sorry you are going through this, people are just out right rude, here are some hugs and stick to your guns, we did, I wouldnt tolerate any nonsense at our wedding and I was clear about that to a specific person who wound up not showing up at all, a cousin and her husband, she thinks her kids who are both under 10 years old are 25 and she can take them anywhere even when it mentions no kids, she was also to above the world and never RSVP'D, I emailed her then called her, then called a family member she finally emailed us back saying she would be there with her husband, then on the day of the wedding I asked my aunt where she was, she said oh, I dont know, didnt she email you to say she wasent coming, All I can say is, in the end were were happy she wasnt there, she had done this to the entire family when it comes to weddings. Unfortunatly I never made it to her 2nd wedding because I was in the hospital three days before with walking Pneumonia, actually I was in there a total of seven days, I sent a gift and I called, thats the right thing to do. I was actually glad she did not show up even though we lost the money, she is rude and I will never deal with her again even though she is a cousin. Hey It was our only no show. Its yours and your Future Husbands day, so do as you wish, not as others wish...........Smile It will all work out, dont your worry....

I have a few wonderful sitters if you need! We were getting stuck in a similar situation and wound up inviting the immediate children only...plus I have 8 year old twins so at least they'll have company! But 50 KIDS?? No way! This isn't a suprise to anyone...you did discuss this already so quite frankly I find it rude for people to just assume!
Good Luck!

I totally know where you are coming from. I have children in the wedding party so unless its one of them or their sibling I am having no children at my wedding. I mean it cost 1/2 the price of an adult for chicken fingers and they arent going to give me a present. So why would I pay $75 for them. I would have to invite 43 children forget that and they dont count as part of the min agreed on. My mothers aunt and uncle got mad cause i didnt invite their great grandchildren why would i, i never met them ahhh some people just need to stop and think that it isnt cause we dont like children its just to much to have them at a wedding.

I don't think you should be responsible for finding someone to watch all these children when you made it CLEAR to your in laws that you are not inviting children.
I would haveFMIL deal with it... but thenagain, I'm a B**ch.

Re: it just keeps getting better (sorry long)
we provided babysitters at the hotel for OOT guests only and paid for them...many couldn't leave the kids for the weekend...and since they were spending $ to fly & stay in a hotel it was nice gesture & cut down on the 'no kids' complaints...we hired sitters thru an agency so that they were insured and had b/g checks.(i have no idea who we used, DH took care of that)

think about it though. YOU ALREADY had this discussion with her. Yet, these people still felt that booking flights for their children... SOMETHING IS WRONG THERE and falls under not your problem.
You know?

I had a similar problem. Since the tickets have already been purchased. Let them bring the kids to NY & find someone you know to babysit them.
