We'll do the traditional music, and I've been informed that almonds MUST be involved.

the music will be involved, the italian dancing will take place, but lucky for me I am allergic to nuts so no almonds for me...woooooo hooooo

It's so funny reading about almonds....some cultures could care less, but I know FH's Italian family and mine would freakin' faint if we left out the bombonierie! It's as if the almonds are more important than the music! lol

Of course we'll have Italian music......we are also having the typical Italian church mass....present gifts, lighting of unity candle WITH parents help, Ave Maria....the whole 9.

I wish there were more traditions to follow!

i am not Italian, i am an Irish Bride...
but my FH is Italian, and i'm sure some of you understand when i say his family isnt THRILLED that he's marrying an Irish girl.

So to make up for it, i'm doing the almonds in tulle(but i hate tulle so we'll be sticking the tulle ball thing into a takeout container) and my Irish wedding band will only play one jig and then go into a reel that will go right into the Tarentella.

Any suggestions as to what else i can do to include his family? We're not doing any 'Irish traditions'

It is difficult to do some of the traditions here.
For example...the bride and the groom both walk to church with their guests in a procession. The groom also carries a bouquet for the bride that he gives to her at the church. After the ceremony they make another procession with their cars around the whole town and all the neighbors are outside waiting to greet them and they throw flowers and confetti (almonds) at their bridal car.

Here are some pics from my cousin's wedding this past July in Italy.

The groom with the bouquet for my cousin.

This was the bouquet my cousin had. That she threw at the reception.

The procession after the ceremony through out the town.

There is also the tradition of everyone going to the newlyweds house for an after party after the reception. My cousin was sooo pissed because they were sooo tired but no one wanted to leave. I think everyone finally left at around 4 am!!

I will be handing out almonds to my guests with a silver spoon ( very old school...lol) with a silver spoon my grandmother used at her wedding in the 30's.

I will most likely also be carrying the white satin purse for gifts....

and of course...the traditional dancing is a must!!!!

That's some really cool information! Funny thing is I am close enough to the church and my RH that I could walk if I really wanted to lol Thanks for sharing.
