Italian speaking girls...need help

When I was little my grandfather used to call me something that sounded liked bits-a-geel (have no idea how to spell it)

Anyone know what this is. My dad swears it is a little peach.

Anyone?

Hmmm...the phrase for little peach in Italian is Poca pesca. Of course, he may have been speaking in a dialect.

There are some translation sites on the internet, unfortunately I have them bookmarked at work, not home Try searching on Google for 'translate from English to Italian' and you'll probably find a site - you can type in Little Peach and see what comes up - maybe that will give you the answer.

**** dialects. Grandpa died in 1984 and I have asked so many friends and Italian teachers and no one seems to know. Maybe it is another fruit or maybe it is just a diminuitive name like dear.

sounds like a dialect, anything ending in a consonant sound is dialiect, because in italian almost everything ends in a vowel, and then in dialect we shorten it, like instead of saying 'quello' we might say 'quell'

Piccola pesca would mean small peach.

The closest thing to what youre saying I could think of is:

Pichcirilla ?? (pronounced peech ee ree la) or Peech eh reel ?
That means 'little one' in many dialects.

Where was he from, that would help so we could find out about that specific dialect.

ETA: If he was sicilian, they would pronounce it 'pee chee ree DA' (they add the D to the end of alot of words in their dialect).

I wish I could help but my Italian is beyond rusty.

It could be just like the other girls said, dialect. I am sicilian and my great grandmother used to talk to my in italian and when I was in school taking a foreign language class what I learned in school was completely different then what I had known from home.

Definatly do a google search for italian translations and you'll get a list of websites that will do translations for you.
