it's 1am and i'm dying here with a toothache!!!!!

i don't know how i'm going to teach tomorrow.

calling in sick is not an option....i don't know what to do!!!

i ont know if you went to bed or not ( thats where i should be lol) but...try rinsing with very warm salt water...rinse good tho!!! not a quickie! then take the strongest pain reliever you have...advil, motrin, alive is my favorite!! if you have something like vicodin laying around lol not that many people do...take HALF since u gotta get up early! it should help! feel better

Just had my teeth worked on last week. Doctor prescribed vicadin. I would suggest that if you have any around the house. But beware, if you don't eat, or if your on the petite side like me, you may get nauseous. I hope you feel better.

I realize it's now 6am, and this may not hep, but, for the future:

Take 3-4 ibuprophen (depending on how your body handles them..... some people feel sick after more than 2).

(My mom yells at me for doing this, because she used to be a hygeinist, but, if I'm in pain, I don't care what I have to do to get rid of it) Put a heating pad right against your face and lie down.

Anbesol does work, if you don't overuse, because then it becomes ineffective.

And, as a PP said, vicodin also works, but, you cannot leave the house with it, and don't take it without eating, you will vomit. And don't take it within a few hours of taking ibuprophen, either.

Also, go to the dentist, ASAP. It could be a root canal, and, if you wait too long, your face could swell up, and you will be in the most excruciating pain you might ever feel in your life (not to scare you, but, this has happened to me twice -- and if it is a root canal, the second the dentist begins to drill it out, the pain will go away.)

definitely go to the dentist immediately after work, and coming from another teacher, LEAVE EARLY if you are in excruciating pain. Just go to the office and say that you tried to work through it, but you can't, you must go to the dentist immediately. Get a note, and they cannot and will not bother you.
I got my wisdom tooth pulled on Tuesday and was out Tues and Wed. I feel your pain!

I ended up going to the ER and getting a prescription for Vicodin. I have never taken it before but I'm going to get it filled right now. I called in sick . It's sad that I think about my students more than my own health!

I'm trying to get an appointment to see a dentist ASAP!

Aww..... I'm glad you got something to take. Have a decent meal before you take it, and just sleep it off.

You'll probably be out of it for a good 4 or so hours, (at least that is what happens when I take it).

Oh, and, it takes about an hour or so (for me) to kick in -- so don't panic if the pain doesn't go away right away.

I hope you can get in to see the dentist soon.

I've had several, and I promise they are no more painful than a filling.

The worst part of a root canal is having to hold your mouth open for a long time, if you can handle that, you'll be FINE!!!

And, I promise, as soon as they start, the pain will go away.

Please, don't listen to me. I'm not a dentist. I just know that my FH, MOH and other friends have described being in SERIOUS pain, super, super pain and actually WELCOMING the root canal. FH said he didn't care what they had to do, as long as they got rid of the ache he had. He said he couldn't even sleep. This was before he met me...

I actually may need one which is why I'm scared. I had two cavities filled a month ago and whenever I drink cold water I see stars in that same area

If your appointment is before 2:30ish, I wouldn't.

Is someone driving you there? If you have a ride, it's not the end of the world to take one, but, you will probably fall asleep in the chair.

If you can deal with the pain, I'd deal. Once they numb you, you won't feel a thing, and by the time you are no longer numb, the pain will be gone.

You can definitely take ibuprophen.

Oh, and, ask them if they have 600mg ibuprophen (my dentist has it in the office) it's stronger than regular, but not as abrasive as vicodin.... so, if for some reason you're still in pain, this will take it away and still allow you to function. Also not to be taken without food.

I remember when I was up all night with a horrible tooth ache and went into the dentist only to find out I needed a root canal as well.

I HATE DENTISTS! I have this horrible fear of them and freak out when I'm in the chair. But I can honestly tell you that I felt absoltely NOTHING when they did it and if anything..it made me fear dentists a little less. And omg did I feel sooooo much better!!!
